Cheer on the Columbus Crew SC!

Cheer on the Columbus Crew SC on Saturday, March 30. The Office of International Affairs is offering 25 free passes to watch the match against Atlanta United. Transportation will be provided. The bus to the stadium will leave the Ohio Union bus turnaround at 5 p.m. and return to campus at 9 p.m. Registration will open on March 18 and close on March 25 at 11:59 p.m. Students will be picked on a first come, first served basis. Join the Global Ambassadors

The Office of International Affairs is seeking domestic and international students to volunteer as global ambassadors. The global ambassadors are a diverse and engaging team of students committed to promoting cultural exchange and the engagement of students, staff and faculty in the global Ohio State community. This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved and enhance your personal and professional knowledge of the many cultures that makes us all unique. Deadline to apply is March 10 at 11:59 p.m. For more information, attend a session to learn more.

Fulbright Week

The Office of International Affairs, the Graduate School and the Undergraduate Fellowship Office have combined their efforts to plan a week full of events acknowledging past Fulbright and Fulbright-Hays recipients; hosting workshops, information sessions and open houses; and informing faculty, undergraduate and graduate students about the opportunities available through the Fulbright and Fulbright-Hays programs. All faculty, staff and students are welcome to participate in any of the 2019 Fulbright Week sessions held during the week of March 25-29.

Global Engagement Night

Global Engagement Night invites international and domestic students to participate in
cross-cultural discussions about different regions of the world
and share their thoughts on topics affecting all college students. The next Global Engagement Night will be on March 5, 6 p.m. in 160 Enarson Classroom Building, and and it will be a Mardi Gras celebration. Contact Shaniqua Ingol if you have any questions.

Signature Event Student Chairs

If you are a student interested in putting your organizational and leadership skills to the test, then you should become the co-chair, or chair-elect, of one of our signature events—Thanksgiving or Taste of OSU. Please note that applicants for the Thanksgiving co-chair position should be rising juniors and seniors. Students interested in applying for the Taste of OSU chair-elect position will need to be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in spring 2021. Applications are due April 1, 11:59 p.m.

International Film Series

The Office of International Affairs collaborates with the Gateway Film Center to host a monthly international film series. Students have the chance to view films from around the world for free! The next film will be shown on Wednesday, January 23 at 7 p.m. at the Gateway Film Center. There is no registration, but plan on coming early because the first 30 students will receive free popcorn and soda! Admission is FREE for students with a BuckID and offered at regular price to the public. Contact Renée Bishai with questions.

Peer Advisor Applications Extended

The Office of International Affairs is still accepting applications for peer advisors. Peer advisors are undergraduate or graduate students who play an essential role in introducing new international students to Ohio State. Peer advisors familiarize new students to important university resources and policies as well as share their experiences as successful students. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Please contact Alexis Benisek to notify us of your application.

The Global Leadership Initiative is Accepting Applications

The Global Leadership Initiative (GLI) is a one-year program for students interested in embracing global perspectives, advocating for diversity, and creating a lasting impact in the community. The 2019-2020 cohort will consist of 24 members, including 12 domestic and 12 international students. All applicants must be current undergraduate students who will remain enrolled through spring semester 2020. Contact GLI with questions.

Preparing Effective Papers

This workshop will take place on Wednesday, March 20, 4 - 5 p.m. in 160 Enarson Classroom Building, and it is intended to help students with the most common writing assignments at the undergraduate level, including short and long research papers, essays and response papers.

Summer Storage Options

International students wondering what to do with your belongings over the summer can take advantage of Zippy Shell storage options. Depending on your living situation, Zippy Shell offers two options:

Option 1 - ZippyU Storage-by-the-Box - ideal for students in on-campus Residence Halls or off-campus Sorority/Fraternity houses

Off-Campus Living Expo

The Off-Campus Living Expo, which will occur on Friday, March 22, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. in the Performance Hall in Ohio Union, serves as a fun and interactive event for Ohio State students, parents, faculty and staff to gather information about off-campus living and safety. This event incorporates information on available rental properties, transportation, fire and home safety, personal health, financial wellness and more.

2019 Tinker Field Research Grants

The Center for Latin American Studies has been awarded a Field Research grant from the Tinker Foundation to provide graduate students with funds for travel to and within Latin America to conduct master's thesis and doctoral research. Up to $3,000 is available to all graduate and professional students looking to conduct fieldwork in Latin America. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 15.
