A CHRISTMAS TOUR
Our clients, Blaine and Miranda Hust, were recently included in a Christmas tour in their home town of Harrisburg, Illinois. They have been renovating Miranda's late grandma's 1902 farmhouse, and we were thrilled to be a part of that journey. Check out these amazing pictures Miranda shared with us from the Christmas tour!

COUNTERTOPS
DON'T MAKE THE NAUGHTY LIST!
You may have, or maybe plan to, make an investment on granite and/or quartz countertops. You already know about all the amazing pro's of using these products: durability, stain resistance, strength, etc. In order to maintain that investment, we also want to make sure you know the recommended ' do nots ' that go along with these amazing products. Don't get on the naughty list when it comes to maintaining the longevity of your investment!

Do not use or let acidic items sit on your countertops (vinegar, citrus, nail polish remover, etc.).
Do not let spills sit on the surface, as they are easier to clean when taken care of quickly.
Do not use knives directly on the surface, make sure to use cutting boards.
Do not place hot pans directly on the surface. We always recommend using trivets on all surfaces!
Do not sit or stand on your tops, especially around cutout and overhang areas.
Do not use too strong of cleaners on your tops as it could cause cloudiness of your finish.
Do not use abrasive pads on your surface.

If you have further questions, give us a call or refer to the manufacturer of your countertops. You can also check out our website to find links to these businesses.

USE & CARE
We have mentioned this before, but it is always worth mentioning again! Keep in mind , that as cold weather moves in, humidity levels naturally drop; cold air can't hold as much moisture as warm air. Combine this with forced gas, electric, and fireplaces to heat your home and the problem escalates rapidly if your home is not equipped with a functioning humidification system. The dry air can greatly affect your cabinetry as well as cause moldings to shrink and pull away from your wall and/or ceiling. A properly installed humidification system on your furnace will allow you to maintain a more constant humidity level in your home, no matter what time of year it is.

We have taken additional steps in our own facility to maintain a stable environment while we build your cabinets, and it is important for our clients to continue to do the same to keep them in the best possible shape.

We have updated our humidification system in our mill. These fans pictured here (with misters) are positioned around the shop, and are controlled by a humidistat, so if humidity levels drop, the system will feed moisture into the air until the desired levels are reached. The moisture fed into the air is an extremely fine mist, not dropping any water onto our product or work surfaces.

We maintain a level of 40-50% humidity in our mill.

WISH LIST
Our wish lists have definitely changed from when we were kids. As adults, we tend to wish for of course health and happiness, but many of us also wish for improvements made to our home. If you are thinking of redoing your kitchen, one of the popular trends, for some time now, is lower cabinetry drawers, instead of doors. They can be easier to access (especially the full depth of the cabinet), easier to organize (and keep organized!), and can maximize every inch of that storage space.

Not convinced? Or you simply love the look of lower cabinetry doors? Then may we suggest roll outs for you door cabinetry. This can have the same effect as a lower cabinet drawer. The roll out can have full extension, much like a drawer, and can help with accessing the very back of your cabinet! We offer 3 variations of roll outs: 4 inch, 7 inch, and high back, or can customize to your specific needs.

Keep all these ideas in mind...and make sure to add them to your wish list for your next project!
