Prince Class of 2019 Graduates
Prince Avenue Christian School held the Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2019 on Saturday, May 18th in the Prince Avenue Baptist Church Worship Center. Dr. Stephen Reel, the Executive Vice President and Acting CEO for the Association of Christian Schools International gave the charge to graduates.

This year’s senior class had 59 graduates 12 of which began their education at Prince in kindergarten. The 59 graduates were accepted to a collective 125 colleges and have been offered approximately $1,052,535.00 worth of scholarship money to attend college next year. Ninety percent of this year’s seniors took Dual Enrollment college classes and already have a collective 837 hours of college hours completed which amounts to 279 college classes. Sixty-nine percent of this year’s seniors took a collective total of 82 AP classes. Many members of the Class of 2019 will begin college with almost enough hours to be classified as college sophomores.

Seventy-five percent of this year’s graduating class participated in the senior mission trip to Costa Rica. The class also includes accomplished musicians, performers, and artists, as well as nine athletes who signed to play at the college level.

Another highlight of the Prince graduation ceremony was the student speeches from the Salutatorian, Valedictorian, and Epistle Award winner as well as the class video that highlighted each graduate and the Class of 2019 throughout their years at Prince Avenue.

PACS Seniors Begin New “Last Walk” Tradition
As they headed into the week before high school graduation, many in the Prince Avenue Class of 2019 were still reflecting on their special last day of school. The senior class was blessed with the unique opportunity to begin a new tradition at Prince. The Wolverine Last Walk was a day of memorable activities planned just for the seniors, and it proved to be a day they will never forget.

PACS High School Principal Jesse Owens explained that the purpose of the day was both to offer an opportunity for the school community to celebrate the seniors and their accomplishments as well as afford the seniors a trip down memory lane. “The school’s mission pillars were a focus of the day. With a reminder of their spiritual foundation as a starting point, the class’s accomplishments in academics, fine arts, and athletics were highlighted to allow the students have a chance to look back on this special time in their lives.”

The day began bright and early with the entire student body Pre-Kindergarten through 11th grade forming a parade line on Prince Avenue. Seniors were greeted with encouraging signs and cheers from high school peers as well as younger students who have looked up to them during their tenure at PACS. Many hugs and high fives were given during this walk to the PABC Worship Center.

The mission statement of Prince Avenue Christian School is “to partner with Christian families to provide scripturally based discipleship while pursuing excellence in academics, fine arts, and athletics from a biblical worldview.” None of this mission would be possible without the highly qualified and extraordinarily talented, dedicated, and godly teachers that are hands-on with Prince students day in and day out.

In the spirit of recognizing the commitment and dedication of the faculty at PACS, each year the school recognizes individual teachers as the Colossians 3:23 Educators of the Year, nominated by their peers as remarkable and doing “everything as unto the Lord”.

This year’s Educators of the Year are 3rd-grade teacher Helen Zeagler, middle school science teacher Dr. Bob Wentworth, and high school English teacher Elizabeth Sadler. Helen, Bob, and Elizabeth received a crystal vase and a generous donation by a friend of the school.
