Experience Revolutionary New Jersey on historic streets and fields!
Revolutionary battle season begins in New Jersey this month. From skirmishes to pivotal battles, it's your chance to experience just a taste of life for our Revolutionary neighbors.
The British invade Haddonfield on June 1 with the Skirmish! Throughout the day, British troops and Queens Rangers will roam the streets, and town criers will announce news of the day, while cooking and beer brewing demonstrations, kids' games, tours and more will be open before the skirmish. Take a selfie with a soldier!

Mark the 241st anniversary of the Battle of Monmouth on June 22 and 23 as historical interpreters take to the fields of Monmouth Battlefield State Park in Manalapan. Watch as Continental Army troops, newly-trained by von Steuben, take on British-Hessian-Loyalist forces in what was ultimately the largest artillery battle of the American Revolution.

The 1780 Battle of Springfield comes to life on June 22 and 23 as the Township of Springfield, Union County, celebrates its 225th anniversary with a reenactment of the British Army's last attempt to capture Washington at Morristown.

Catch the Revolutionary Spirit on June 8!
Travel back to 1777 as Revolutionary Spirit Night returns to TD Bank Ball Park in Bridgewater on June 8. Crossroads teams up with the Somerset Patriots to bring you to the days when the Middlebrook Encampment occupied the tract where the ball park now stands.
Before the (baseball) Patriots take on the York Revolution, visit with reenactors at their encampments, meet a colonial doctor, sample 18th century libations and more, starting at 5:30 p.m. Don't miss it as General Washington throws the first pitch before the game starts at 7:05 p.m., then meet many of our Heritage Partners at their displays on the concourse.
Cheer on the Patriots during the game, and stay for the exciting post-game fireworks display!

Farm life featured during Spring Heritage Partner workshop
Volunteers and staff from historical sites around the state had the chance to experience 18th century agricultural life during "A Day in the Life of...", Crosssroads' spring Heritage Partner workshop at Howell Living History Farm in Lambertville.
The May 15 session offered expert instruction and commentary on family roles on the farm, hands-on experience with farm chores like plowing, social customs like hygiene and country dancing, and more. It was the latest in our series of workshops to help New Jersey's Revolutionary era heritage groups bring authentic 18th century experiences to visitors at their own events and sites.

Summer camps offer Revolutionary kids experiences!
Looking for fun, hands-on activities for your kids once school's out? Revolutionary New Jersey offers plenty of options!
Several Crossroads Heritage Partner sites invite young people to explore their interests in areas of history from archaeology to farming, colonial army life to 18th century home life and handicrafts. Some programs are as brief as a day, while others offer full-week experiences, and appropriate ages range from 4 to high school age.

Trenton students premiere Revolutionary videos
The red carpet came to Trenton's Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School in May as fourth graders premiered the video results of their year-long study of the American Revolution in their community.
Students shared their impressions of the impact of the war on Trenton, based on what they learned from a visit to the nearby Old Barracks Museum, as well as in-school presentations from living historians portraying Revolutionary-era dignitaries, soldiers and doctors.
