The Design of Roxbury's Portrait of Graduate Begins
|
|
One of the small group discussions identifying characteristics we want to see in future graduates.
|
|
Similar to how our students start out, Roxbury's Portrait of a Graduate is still in its infancy and we have to learn to crawl before we can walk.
A handful of parents, staff, administrators, and community members turned out on October 10th at Lincoln/Roosevelt School for the first of three "Portrait of a Graduate" nights to generate ideas on what we want our Portrait of Graduate to look like.
Superintendent Loretta Radulic explained that the Portrait of a Graduate will be our touchstone and a jumping off point for our next strategic plan. She and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Chuck Seipp had attended a conference where a Portrait of a Graduate was discussed. "We noticed that the Portrait of a Graduate sets up a vision of what we want our children to graduate being able to do, what skills they should have. It defines what makes that comprehensive graduate, what makes a comprehensive Gael."
To that end, the district will be holding community meetings inclusive of community members, parents, students as well as meetings with the staff and administrators to try and gather as much input as possible. "By the time we get to the third session, we will have our vision of what a graduate of Roxbury looks like," shared Radulic.
Radulic added, "Creating a profile of a graduate that is aligned to a district's vision allows that vision to come alive for district stakeholders."
The next session that the community is invited to will be Tuesday, December 4th at Lincoln/Roosevelt School at 7 p.m. Click here to read more about the first session and the upcoming ones on our website under "In the News".

RHS Performing Arts Presents The Crucible this Fall at RHS - Nov 1-2
Ticket reservations are now being accepted for
Roxbury High School's fall drama of The Crucible showing Thursday and Friday, November 1-2 at 7:00 p.m. at Roxbury High School at 1 Bryant Drive in Succasunna.
StageAgent.com states, "In the insular, Puritan community of 1692 Salem, Massachusetts, a group of young girls are found dancing in the woods, and immediately fall ill. When no earthly cause can be determined, the citizens of Salem suspect that some more sinister force may be at hand. As long-held grudges turn to violent disputes, humiliating secrets are exposed and disseminated, and the line between truth and pretense becomes increasingly blurry, the citizens' dogged determination to root out evil becomes more dangerous than the evil itself. When the burden of proof is invisible and the crime too terrible to name, everyone becomes a suspect and no one is safe.
The Crucible
, Arthur Miller's remarkable 1963 play, remains as relevant as ever, and carries with it a stern warning: in every community torn by suspicion, the most dangerous threat may be the community itself."
Join us for an enjoyable entertaining evening. Tickets are $10 each. Click here for the ticket reservation form
. Ticket reservations will automatically be held at the Box Office and can be picked up 45 minutes before the performance.
