Fall season is upon us, which means lots of soccer! Our competitive soccer teams are competing every weekend (when not rained out!), our recreational program started last week, and our developmental league begins games this month.
We are blessed to have these many opportunities to connect with youth and their families and to reach out to our community. Read on below to see how you can "get in the game," too!
See you at the fields,

VIP Spotlight: People You Should Know!

Felicien and Kinyinga
Eleven-year-old Felicien and eight-year-old Kinyinga are joining big brother Frederic as ANSA players this year. Although their parents are originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Felicien, Kinyinga, and four of their siblings were born in Burundi. They came to the U.S. two years ago and now have another little brother (Moses) who was born in Houston. Felicien says that he likes playing soccer “because my friends are there and soccer makes me be good.” Kinyinga likes ANSA “because he wants to be better at soccer.” Both brothers say that their favorite thing in the whole world is to “play soccer.” Welcome to ANSA, boys! You have found a home here, and we are so glad to have you play soccer with us!

Kimberly Kianka
Kim began working with ANSA in June 2018 as the ANSA Lions Registrar/Admin. She grew up in Towson, Maryland and moved to Sugar Land five years ago. She has a background in electrical engineering, specializing in power design and currently works part-time at home with a Philadelphia-based company. She has three children who play on ANSA Lions' teams, and her husband grew up playing as a goalkeeper and continues to play as well. Kim got involved with soccer as a team manager for her kids’ teams and asked how she could help at ANSA. She loves having the opportunity to help out where she can and is learning more about the ins and outs of competitive soccer in her current role at ANSA. ANSA is blessed to have Kim join our team!

COMPETITIVE CAMPUS EXPANSION
ANSA Lions' competitive teams are now training at HCC Stafford, HBU, and starting this week at Brooks Street (Faith Lutheran in Sugar Land). HCC Stafford and Brooks Street fields are home to 11 teams (eight boys' and three girls' teams). Our HBU campus is our Central Campus and is home to four of our boys' teams. Additionally, outside of the Houston area, we are pleased to have a campus in Brownsville at Living Way Family Church, where there is one boys' competitive team currently.
We are excited about this growth in campuses and in teams! Please join us in continuing to pray for the impact that ANSA has in the lives of these many young people and in these communities.

In September, ANSA had the opportunity to share its mission and purpose at two different locations: one in north Houston with adult students attending a world mission class and another with parents at a local elementary school in west Houston. It is our pleasure to present what we are doing in the greater Houston area and encourage others to use their time, talents, and treasures. If you can help facilitate ANSA sharing at a school, church, community organization, or business, please contact our Director of Community Outreach, Lisa Galvao, at
lisa@ansacademy.org.
