This is our final regular school week of the 2018-2019 first quarter. Please remember that there is no school for students on Monday, October 15th as teachers finalize first quarter grades. To that end, I encourage any of our Bears needing to complete assignments or projects to do so quickly before quarter-end.

While we have mentioned it in this space before, please do not forget that this coming Wednesday, October 10th will be a regular length school day - no early release (see below).

Enjoy your week and thank you for taking the time to look over our recent progress. Your support is greatly appreciated.

FFA - Building a Legacy Through Agricultural Education

Our newly formed Cypress Creek FFA traveled to the State FFA Leadership Training Center in Haines City to participate in the Chapter Officer Leadership Conference (COLT). The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

FFA is an integral part of agricultural education by helping make classroom instruction come to life through realistic, hands-on applications. The COLT conference was designed to meet the needs of our chapter officers and provide them with the tools that are necessary for a successful year of service. The COLT experience helped our officer team identify their strengths and weaknesses as a group, and learn advanced interpersonal communication strategies and presentation delivery techniques.

World Heart Day

Cypress Creek students celebrated World Heart Day 2018 on the last Friday of September. Students learned about the importance of keeping our hearts healthy, and even got to practice hands-only CPR techniques with the local fire department firefighters, teachers, and even some administrators. #GoBears #CypressCreekHighScoolWHD2018

CCHS Medical Academy
The CCHS Medical Academy students also got in on the World Heart Day fun!

The Medical Academy students performed cardiovascular assessments on each other during the week to celebrate world heart awareness. #GoBears #CypressCreekHighScoolWHD2018

College Readiness & Mini College Fair

Monday's Motivational Moment!

TRY, FAIL, and TRY AGAIN!

One of the most famous players in the history of baseball is the great Hank Aaron. Ask anyone which player stands out and his name will be mentioned very often. The interesting thing about the great Hank Aaron was this: he failed more times than he succeeded! "Hammerin Hank" hit 755 home runs, but struck out 1,383 times! No one remembers the strikeouts, only the home runs, only the successes! Consider how many great inventions and breakthroughs would have never taken place if failure ended the efforts?

Anyone who fears failure truly limits their opportunities. You see, failure and opportunity are not opposites. In reality, the two are similar and if you look at failure as a learning opportunity to grow and take a better path, you will automatically find more success. Like Hank Aaron, the best athletes grow throughout most of their sports careers based on what they learn from their failures.

The lesson for our Bears? The true measure of success is not in ending our failures and obstacles, but growing from them. The winners take the lessons from failure, analyze them, set a new course and sail where the winds of trial and error will take them.

"Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time we fall."
~ Confucius, Chinese philosopher
