Global Change Community,

I hope that each of you plans to take time this week to refresh before we embark on the final stretch of the semester. With our demanding careers, it is quite easy to get bogged down in the day-to-day grind and forget the most important things in life. I sincerely hope that you enjoy time with family and friends this week, and remember how fortunate we are to be part of a strong community.

Applications for Spring 2019 admission to the Interfaces of Global Change Program are due November 30th, 2018!

Postdoctoral & Undergraduate Opportunities:
Virginia Tech, Mims Lab:
Conservation of Freshwater Organisms

This postdoctoral position is part of ongoing laboratory and collaborative efforts to bridge the roles of population, community, and landscape ecology in the conservation of freshwater organisms, particularly anurans.

Penn State University:
Plant-Insect Interactions

A postdoctoral position in the area of plant-insect interactions is anticipated beginning January 1, 2019 or until a suitable candidate is found. The position involves working on Spotted Lanternfly (SLF, Lycorma delicatula ) and its interactions with hardwood trees in landscape and forest systems.

Paleontological Experience for Undergraduates: Petrified Forest National Park
The Virginia Tech Paleobiology Research Group  is looking for 3 undergraduate students to participate in a field expedition in search of early dinosaurs and other reptiles in Upper Triassic strata in Petrified Forest National Park (May/June, 2019). Paid positions include: one summer scholar at Petrified Forest (10 wks) and two scholars that will be part of a two-week expedition to the park.
