The City just completed a small lighting retrofit in the parking lot of City Hall, upgrading decades-old equipment to modern, energy-saving LED bulbs. The new bulbs consume just one third of the power used by the older model.
The City has increasingly turned to LED lighting for most large installations, including replacing the 30-year-old lights on wooden poles at Island Crest Park's northern sportsfield in December 2017. Other recent lighting upgrades include a major streetlight retrofit in Town Center (2013 and 2014), and the Community Center parking lot (2015).
These LED lighting projects save the City money not only in much lower electricity costs, but also in reduced labor costs due to longer bulb-life, and help shrink the City's carbon footprint due to lower energy needs. Learn more about LED streetlamps. |
