NYLT STAFF INTERVIEWS
NYLT staff is a terrific opportunity for graduates of the NYLT program to master their leadership skills while having a ton of fun and building bonds with other Scouts on staff. Scouts on NYLT Staff are responsible for running the program at their respective weeks. The only requirement to be on staff is to successfully complete an NYLT course. Interviews begin Nov. 29.

GLSAC ANNOUNCES EFFORTS TO EDUCATE SCOUTS ON DANGERS OF OPIOID USE
As a commitment to a preventative approach to the growing drug abuse issue, The Greater St. Louis Area Council is excited to announce a collaboration with educators from SIUE School of Pharmacy and the Meridian Society to develop and implement a drugs of abuse prevention program offered to adolescence. Upon completion of the program, Scouts can order the patch showing that they have completed the program.

By observing the positions of the sun and the stars, in conjunction with an internal sense of time, migrating birds are able to determine their position on the surface of the earth. If it is overcast, they can still detect polarized light from the sun. The ears of songbirds can hear far lower frequency sounds, those that travel hundreds of miles, than the ears of humans.

OKPIK

Beaumont Scout Reservation
The purpose of the nationally acclaimed OKPIK program is to teach Scouts and leaders how to be comfortable and safe while camping in cold weather. This training enables Scout units to extend their camping season to a full 12-months. These unique skills are delivered in a safe environment and culminates in a 24-hour outdoor overnight session that tests your new-found skills while enjoying some Scout fellowship and competition.

This full-day event for Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA is focused on earning STEM-based advancements and NOVA awards. Cub Scouts can earn the Cub Scouts Can Code at UMSL while Scouts BSA can choose from a variety of merit badges workshops.
