That will be our opening hymn this Sunday, December 2
nd
as we begin our Advent worship and a new church year with it.
That is also the day of our annual Parish Meeting immediately following the 10:00 service. Please plan to join us for this important event in the life of St. Luke’s.
In my brief time with you I have begun to feel a sense of excitement and expectancy here at St. Luke’s, and I find it exhilarating and a sign of health and hope for this fine parish.
Looking toward new beginnings is the primary theme of Advent, accompanied by an honest look at our personal and corporate history.
That is the faithful response that God calls us to in this serious but wonderful season.
St. Luke’s is embarked on one of the most exciting times in the life of any parish – the search for and call of your next Rector.
This can be a time of rebirth, recommitment and renewal for our parish and for each and every one of us.
I pray that it will be that and more, and I invite you to enter fully into the worship and ministries of the season, and into the process that will end with the call of a new Rector and the next chapter in the life of your parish.
Advent celebrates the beginning of a new day in the history of creation, and, for each of us, the promise of a new life.
God invites us in Advent to once more enter into that great drama of our salvation, preparing our hearts for the birth of our Savior as the Bethlehem Babe and looking for his return as our gracious Judge.
I pray that for all of us this will be the most meaningful Advent ever.
I look forward to sharing that Advent journey, and to celebrating with you all the joys of Christmas.
