MDOT-ACEC Partnering Workshop
January 31, 2019, in Lansing
Each year representatives from the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and from ACEC/Michigan come together in Lansing to host a partnering workshop. The purpose of the event is to reinforce the principles contained in the MDOT-ACEC Partnership Charter through information sharing, problem solving and teamwork.
A multitude of educational breakout sessions are offered that are specific to current issues affecting the DOT and consulting engineers. In addition, the winner of the 2018 MDOT/ACEC Partnership Charter Award will be announced!
The conference is the largest gathering of state transportation and consultant engineering professionals, creating a perfect opportunity for endless networking. Mark your calendar now for this event, scheduled for January 31, 2019, at the Lansing Center.

2019 Engineering & Surveying Excellence Awards
Competition Update
On November 1, a panel of judges reviewed and discussed 28 engineering and 3 surveying project entries for the 2019 Engineering & Surveying Excellence Awards Competition. Projects were evaluated based on innovation, complexity, client satisfaction and future value to the profession.
Award recipients will be recognized on March 2, 2019 during the awards gala, which will be held at the Sound Board in MotorCity Casino in Detroit.
Gala sponsorship information is now available on the ACEC website. Registration for this event will open in January.

ACEC National Scholarship Awarded to Michigan Student
Congratulations to Jacob Moyer!
Jacob Moyer was presented with the the $10,000 Rina Lee Scholarship at the ACEC National Convention in Las Vegas in October. The award also covered his travel expenses to attend the convention.
Jacob has completed his junior year at Ferris State University, focusing on Surveying Engineering. He interned at Williams & Works and at MDOT, and he currently works for Mulder & Associates, a land surveying firm. He is involved with the student chapters of the National Society of Professional Surveyors and the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors. He volunteers with the City Rescue Mission of Lansing, American Red Cross, and Toys for Tots.

Every year, the ACEC/M Scholarship Committee holds a raffle. This is the only fundraising event for the ACEC Scholarship Program. Proceeds from the raffle go directly to supporting scholarships for college students pursuing a career in engineering or surveying. Your contributions make it possible for us to provide substantial financial support to these hardworking students.

ACEC/M Scholarships
Application Deadline is January 4, 2019
ACEC/Michigan is planning to award over $12,000 to engineering and surveying students enrolled in an ABET accredited College or University.
Applications are now available on the ACEC/M website, and are due to ACEC by January 4, 2019. Applicants will be judged on a written essay, their work experience, employer/faculty recommendations, community involvement and their GPA.
