The worship theme for February is Trust .

Sunday, February 24 – 9:30 and 11:00 am
Learning from Moral Failure – Rev. Jim Crawford
Our month-long worship theme on trust continues today as we look at the dynamics of becoming and being trustworthy. Specifically, we'll reflect upon times when our failures teach us and strengthen our character. Featured Musicians: "No Strings Attached" and Women's Chorale.
Sharing the Offering
In February, we will share our offerings with Metropolitan Congregations United (MCU). Eliot Chapel is a member of this community organization that brings together religious congregations, community groups, and individuals to work for a common purpose: to create a better life for all residents. MCU acknowledges that the racism in the systems that order our society has created what we now understand as the School to Prison Pipeline. MCU has been working to change the policies and procedures of school districts, police departments, and the juvenile courts in the St. Louis metropolitan area. MCU wants to keep our students in school! The work continues with the following task forces:
  • Education Task Force
  • Police Reform Task Force
  • Juvenile Justice Task Force

UUA General Assembly: The Power of We
June 19-23, Spokane WA

In a time of great challenge and heartbreak in our world, what does our faith demand from us? At this year’s General Assembly we will explore the power, possibility, purpose, struggle, and joy of finding the path forward together as Unitarian Universalists. General Assembly (GA) is the annual meeting of our Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). Attendees worship, witness, learn, connect, and make policy for the Association through democratic process. Anyone may attend; contact the Eliot Board Chair Todd Stark if you’re interested in being a delegate.

Registration for General Assembly 2018 will open on March 1; rates increase May 1.
Housing goes very fast; make your hotel reservations right away!

Early bird registration for MidAmerica Regional Assembly comes to an end February 28! If you attended GA last summer in Kansas City, you remember the warm camaraderie and excitement of gathering with UUs from across the world as we welcomed our own Susan Frederick-Gray as the new UUA President. Here's another opportunity to hear Susan again right in our own backyard, and to participate in UU workshops, assemblies, singing and worship with like-minded Midwesterners. Register now for MidAmerica Regional Assembly . It's being held at the Marriott St. Louis Airport Hotel the weekend of April 5 - 7. It would be wonderful for Eliot to have a large presence there so don't miss this opportunity to be a part of our larger UU world and register now before the early-bird discount ends Feb 28th!

Accompaniment Training
Wednesday, February 27

Many of our neighbors are forced to appear at regular check-ins with immigration officials during their immigration case. When we “accompany” them, we offer community and comfort against the specter of unfair treatment and the threat of deportation. Eliot members who participate describe the experience as spiritual and deeply satisfying. IFCLA will hold its next no-obligation training February 27, from 6:00-9:00 pm at St. Anselm Parish, 530 Mason Road. No registration is required. Get more information here.
