bankHometown's Annual Neighbors Helping Neighbors Campaign

Neighbors Helping Neighbors bankHometown kicked off their 15th year of participating in the Annual Neighbors Helping Neighbors (NHN) Campaign with a challenge to local residents to help support local food pantries.

For more than 30 years, NHN has helped people faced with financial difficulties caused by accidents, fires, life challenging illness and disabilities or other reasons beyond their control. Each November, customers and community members are invited to be a Hometown Hero for a $1 donation or a Hometown Superhero for a $5 donation, and business customers are solicited to contribute in larger amounts. bankHometown then matches all donations, dollar for dollar, and splits the funds among food pantries that serve the areas surrounding each of its seven offices.

This year's campaign includes an opportunity to enter a drawing for a $25 gift card. Anyone may participate just by dropping by one of bankHometown's 13 offices to make a donation in MA or CT.

bankHometown President and CEO, Matthew S. Sosik says "Last year's campaign concluded with a total distribution of $25,000.00, representing contributions from personal and business customers, Bank employees and directors, and a dollar for dollar matching gift from the Bank. It's a way for the bank and its customers to make a real difference in the lives of local residents."

Neighbors Helping Neighbors donations benefit (in MA) the Auburn Youth and Family Services, Inc. Food Pantry (Auburn), CARE Food Pantry (Clinton), Food Share (Southbridge, Charlton & Sturbridge), Ginny's Helping Hand, Inc. (Leominster), Oxford Ecumenical Food Shelf (Oxford), Salvation Army (Athol), St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry (Webster); (in CT) Daily Bread (Putnam), Friends of Assisi (Killingly), and Thompson Ecumenical Empowerment Group (TEEG) (Thompson).

bankHometown was founded in 1889 and is headquartered in Oxford, Massachusetts, bankHometown has 13 branches located throughout central Massachusetts and northeastern Connecticut. For more information, please visit www.hometowncoop.com.

Christmas Memories
Only Two Dates Remain!
December 9 at 4:00pm & December 15 at 3:45pm

Christmas Hearth 'Tis the season... to eat, to drink, and to be merry!
We all look for special and memorable Christmas events to attend with family and friends during the Christmas season. The Challenge? Finding Christmas events that will entertain everyone from Grandma and Grandpa to our dear little toddlers. Look no further, the Christmas Memories series at the Salem Cross Inn is a beautiful and entertaining event to attend with the entire family. Bring the family, bring your friends, carve out some time for yourself.

Start a new tradition this year by participating in Christmas Memories!

Eat... What's a Christmas celebration without a great spread of food? A traditional New England turkey dinner takes center stage for our Christmas Memories dining event. Start your feast with a tossed garden salad the chef's homemade creamy Italian dressing, and freshly made squash muffins and white dinner rolls. Next, indulge yourself with fresh, moist turkey, Grandmother's traditional bread stuffing, giblet gravy over real whipped potatoes, and fresh butternut squash seasoned to perfection. Complete your meal with a scoop of peppermint stick ice cream rolled in chocolate cake crumbs, topped with Salem Cross Inn's famous hot fudge, whipped cream, and a candy cane.

... drink ... Join our performers, servers and everyone else in the hall for a wassail toast, and raise a glass to a new tradition. Glasses filled with tasty farm fresh apple cider will be lifted to commemorate the holiday season. Since we use fresh apple cider which is non-alcoholic, the kids may join in and enjoy as well!

... and be merry! Salem Cross Inn during the winter months is a captivating scene -- The decorations throughout the building are a joy to see. Feel free to wander through our rooms while you're here.
Next, let's celebrate in true holiday fashion. First, enjoy a play based on Dylan Thomas' "A Child's Christmas in Wales," performed by the animated and lively Cornely Production performers, dressed in 19th century costumes and ready to entertain you! Enjoy them singing over 20 Christmas carols. Since singing Christmas carols often brings out the spirit of joy in almost everyone, we encourage you to sing along with them and rekindle memories of Christmases past while making memories of the Christmas present. Throughout the event, the actors will circulate around the room so everyone feels like a part of the festivities. Bring your Christmas spirit, your sense of humor, and even your camera!

Experience Fireplace Feast in December!
December 7, 14, 21, 28, 29, 30 & New Year's Eve!

Join us for a special dining event as the Innkeepers at the Salem Cross Inn announce their series of 1700's style feasts, prepared on the open hearth of a great fieldstone fireplace. Relax by the fire or lend a hand as dinner is prepared for you in colonial style. Stir the chowder as it bubbles in our cast iron cauldron. See your prime rib, roasted 'to a turn,' as the only known authentic Roasting Jack still operating in America rotates slowly over a crackling fire of wild cherry logs. Beware the brimming bowl of freshly whipped cream - the perfect complement to New England's best apple pie.

While your dinner is cooking to perfection, enjoy a horse drawn wagon or sleigh ride through the valley on the Inn's pristine 600 acres. Shake off the chill with warm mulled wine or cider upon your return. Browse our extensive collection of colonial and federal period American antiques. The Fireplace Feast makes a thoughtful and unique gift for special friends or deserving associates.

The Fireplace Feast is just one of our many dining events that provides an authentic colonial experience. At Salem Cross Inn, we capture the history and culture of 1700's America. Salem Cross Inn's dining events, excellent cuisine, and atmosphere have been featured on Food Network's "The Best Of," WCVB TV5 Boston's "Chronicle" and chosen as the "Hidden Jewel" by Boston's Phantom Gourmet and WGBY.

Arrive at 6pm, feast begins at 7:30pm. See the Fireplace Feast schedule for more dates here!

We Welcome Interesting Goodies for our Welcome Baskets!

New member Baskets

The Chamber has teamed up with the Center of Hope to create gift baskets to welcome new members to the Chamber of Central Mass South. The Chamber presents our new members with gift baskets that will not only have a monetary value but also to give the recipient an opportunity to learn more about other Chamber members and their services. These baskets make a terrific first impression and are a great way to introduce your business to new prospects. Can you help us fill these baskets with interesting goodies?

We are always seeking interesting, practical items to include in our welcome baskets. We welcome your contributions of items like modest gift certificates, discount coupons, items with your company's logo like piggy banks, thumb drives and coffee mugs, free trial items, small items your company manufactures or whatever else might promote your company and be a value to our new members.

We are looking to assemble about a dozen baskets at a time so that time sensitive material will not be out of date when received. If you would like to donate items for this program, please drop them off at the Chamber office or give us a call to arrange pick up your donated items. Contact Alix at 508-347-2761 or e-mail [email protected] if you have any questions or to arrange a pickup. Thank you for your contributions!
