I hope you have enjoyed golf this summer - there certainly have been plenty of opportunities to play!
There are
FOUR things this month that I - and more importantly, the RDGA - need you to do! After those things, then we can talk about some season-ending
FUN...but more on that in a bit.
First, the action items:

1)
Beginning next year (can you believe it will be 2019 already?), the USGA will be REQUIRING an email address with everyone's GHIN account. Soooo...I am asking you to help your club to get this done. The RDGA office is in the process of reaching out to your pro shop and owners to obtain an email for every one of your members.
Here's how YOU can help:
- Please contact the RDGA for a list of GHIN members at your club
- Pass this list on to your Head Pro, owner or membership chair (or the person who manages the GHIN Handicapping at your club)
- Let me know when this is done so I can cross your club off my list.
This can be a sensitive topic, so here is an introduction that you can use to address the issue with anyone at your club who questions the requirement to supply an email address (feel free to quote this message when you discuss the topic, or "cut and paste" the message if you email them):
___
The ultimate goal is to have a seamless transition for GHIN members and the USGA. As the USGA looks to the future and the introduction of new tools such as a new mobile app and GHIN.com for score posting, in order to utilize these features members will be required to create an online profile. This will require the authentication of matching each person with an individual profile by way of their own email address.
An added benefit of having a unique email is the ability to customize communications to each GHIN member. This will allow the RDGA
to connect with individual members through Handicap eRevision, member benefits, and information of interest to our local members. In order to help begin this transition, as mentioned, we would be happy to update the information on behalf of each Member Club and their GHIN members. However, if you would rather protect the information of your members, we kindly ask that you directly communicate the changes to the best of your ability.
If you have any follow up questions, please don't hesitate to give us a call at the RDGA Office (585-292-5950), and we would be happy to assist!

2)
While you are canvassing your club for email addresses, be sure all junior members have a GHIN number (GHIN is free for anyone under 18). The USGA is requiring that juniors are NOT to use their own email address - only one of their parents' emails (for obvious security reasons).
