Meet The Teacher, 2020 Style

Meet the Teacher Night has gone virtual! Now you can sit in the comfort of your home and “meet” you child’s teachers at your convenience! Our teachers have created videos to introduce themselves and their courses which will be available to watch through next Wednesday, September 23. At the button link below you will find a file for each subject department. Within each file are the videos, arranged by the teachers’ last names. Some teachers have more than one video, depending on the courses they teach; this is indicated by the file title.
Thank You Donors
We wish to offer a heartfelt THANK YOU to some folks whose donations made the reopening of school easier for everyone. Kim Knoppe, father of grads Brian '98 and Chris '01, donated the red masks given to all students and staff. In addition, face shields for the world language teachers were donated by the Spa at River Ridge. World language teachers are permitted to wear a face shield while presenting specific parts of lessons in order to allow students to see mouth movements and facial expressions.
We are truly grateful for these gifts!
School Pictures September 23 & 24

School pictures are scheduled for Wednesday, September 23 (Red on campus) and Thursday, September 24 (Gold on campus). Students on the gray learning plan are welcome to be photographed on either day at your convenience between 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. All uniform rules apply.
Campus Ministry Cues

When we encounter brokenness of the world and in our own lives, it is helpful to remember that St. Ignatius of Loyola invites us to ask God for a specific grace when we pray. This idea is explored in the blog series Gathering the Graces. Click here to read.

Reflect on grace further by listening to the Ave Explores Family Life podcast where Catholic mother of eight Danielle Bean shares about cultivating a "God will give me the grace" attitude and the impact of that on a healthy and holy family culture. Click here to listen.
Senior Wins Right Stuff Award at Space Camp
In late August, Senior Christina Rose flew to Huntsville, Alabama to attend the Advanced Space Academy. The week-long program explores college and career preparation through an immersive experience in science, technology, engineering and math. The participants trained as astronauts in low-gravity environments, simulated several missions on NASA’s space shuttle, and learned more about the bright future of space travel.

During graduation, Christina’s team earned the Commander’s Cup patch for the highest achieving team. Then Christina was called back to the podium to receive the Right Stuff Award. This medal is given to the outstanding trainee who best exemplifies the courage, integrity, and excellence of early space explorers and test pilots.

Christina, who plans on majoring in either aerospace or mechanical engineering in college, said the week-long program was one of the best experiences of her life. “I am very honored to have received the Right Stuff Award. I’ve been setting my sights on the stars my entire life,” she said. “Everyone had a similar passion for space, engineering, and astronaut training, and it was fantastic to be a part of such a united team. My grandfather earned one of the first Master Missileman ratings awarded in the USAF during the 1950s and I’d like to follow in his footsteps when it comes to contributing to the legacy of space exploration.”
AP Exam Payment

We have set up an online payment option for students who are taking AP classes during the 2020-21 school year and who will be taking AP exams. Payment for these exams is due by November 6. For those who would prefer not to pay online, we will also accept cash, check and money orders.
Questions about AP exams should be directed to the specific teacher.
Students having difficulty logging into their College Board accounts need to contact College Board directly.
