This best-selling discipleship course, by Henry Blackaby and Claude King, has helped millions of believers learn to recognize God’s activity around them, adjust their lives to Him, and be ready to join Him where He is working. We are partnering with 5 churches, and we will be hosting a team of 30 volunteers to lead us during the weekend. To get the schedule and sign up, click here. Childcare is provided throughout the weekend, but children need to be registered by September 4. The weekend will launch groups that will study "Experiencing God" - if you are interested in participating in a group, contact the church office .
Converge & Youth ALIVE - Wednesday Nights for Teens!
Converge is a community gathering for 6-12th graders that meets in Room 317. More than 40 teens from 5 churches are converging for worship, small groups, food and fun!
Youth ALIVE! is starting THIS Wednesday (September 5) at 5:00 p.m. in the Choir Room, follwed by a snack dinner and then CONVERGE! If you would like to help, contact Dan . (Have a younger sibling? Check out our Children's Ministry on Wednesday nights!)
Matching Gift Challenge - Current Total: $40,277!
The renovated bathrooms are finished and the new HVAC system on the 2nd floor has been working well. These projects, while crucial to our vision of ministry expansion to folks in and around Culpeper, also make these areas more accessible to our church family as our needs change during the aging process.  
Remember, you can donate on line or by check (designate to "Matching Gift.") Every dollar we give between now and October 15 will be matched, up to $75,000!

Sunday Morning starting September 23
We are excited to be partnering with City on a Hill Church for Children's Sunday School. Together we'll be experiencing The Gospel Project for Kids. Children (preschool through grade 5) will meet for classes on the second floor at 9:30 AM each Sunday to discover how the big story of the Bible centers kids on the Gospel. Sunday school for children will run from 9:30-10:15 AM, to be followed by Chimes from 10:15 - 10:45 AM, also on the second floor. Please come join us! 
40th Anniversary Concert Celebration of our newly restored Schantz Pipe Organ featuring Joby Bell
We are celebrating the 40th  Anniversary of our Schantz Pipe Organ with Joby Bell, one of the most exciting and in demand concert performers of his generation. He brings to his performances a contagious affability and a keen sensitivity toward increasing an audience’s appreciation for organ music. His recital programming demonstrates a varied and interesting repertoire, always enhanced by illuminating program notes designed to embrace all audiences. 
Dinner Groups are Starting More than 60 people participated in the spring! Dinner Groups are 8 to 12 people meeting once a month to share a meal with good conversation and getting to know one another in a small group stetting. Dinner Groups begin again in September and will remain the same from the spring for our fall session — but new members are welcome. Allie Thompson Remembrance
Charles Allie Thompson was lynched in Culpeper County in 1918. A coalition of community groups are coming together to sponsor two events that Antioch Baptist and CBC will host September 24, 7:00-8:30 PM.  There will be a screening of the film “An Outrage,” which was directed by two CCHS graduates and has received a number of awards. On November 17 we will convene in the sanctuary to remember and reflect on the impact of Allie Thompson’s death for his family and our community.
CDC News The CDC is off to a great start this fall season! You would never know as you walk around, but CBC's second floor is home to more than 100 children ages five and below each day. The second floor renovation has surely allowed our program to serve more families and operate more effectively than ever before. Everyday we are serving more than 60 children from local elementary schools, with several needs for second runs! More than 85 children are enrolled for elementary care. We are still on a hunt for a mini-van or lead on an additional activity bus!

GriefShare starts September 16
GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. We will meet at 4:00 PM on Sundays starting on the 16 th in the Conference Room. Contact Joyce or Hans for more info.

Joy Ensemble is joining with Blue Ridge Chorale, under the direction of Alex Smith. They sing a wide range of music – no audition required. Chorus meets every Monday night at Open Door Baptist Church from 6:30-8:30 PM. New singers are welcome to join now through Monday, September 17 . Come and sing with us!
Bible Study Fellowship is an interdenominational, global, in-depth Bible class. A women’s class meets on Wednesdays from 1:15—2:45 PM starting September 12 . A new men’s group will start  September 10 and meets from 6:40-8:10 PM
Senior Adult News
Homebound Senior Food Delivery—September 21 Join us as we deliver food boxes to homebound Seniors in our community. We need drivers, carriers and talkers. Let’s make our community a more Senior- friendly place together. Meet at the Church at 11:00 a.m. 
Senior Game Day—September 27 - Let’s play games, board games. Meet at 2:00 p.m. in the Worship Center. 
Come join in as we enjoy fellowshiping and competing in some of our favorite games.
5th Sunday Night Singing, September 30, 6:30 p.m.  Alex and the Joy Ensemble will be leading our 5th Sunday night singing at The Culpeper in the Assembly Room.
Art of Aging Expo, October 2 at Daniel Technology Center Free and open to all! Seniors, Veterans, Caregivers, Families and Senior-Serving Professionals can come enjoy some fun and learn about what the community has to offer for Senior Adults. Contact Hans for more information about our ministry to Senior Adults. 
Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy is a great opportunity for high school youth to learn leadership skills and make a difference in their community. Please check out the website here.  We hosted this group last year, and we will be starting a new group on Monday, September 10 at 6:30 p.m. The group meets once a month on the 2 nd Monday night. The Leader Academy will also be at CCHS and EVHS this year.  An application is required to participate, and if you fill out the application by August 27, you get FREE Chick-Fil-A. Contact Dan for an application or if you have ?'s.

Dino Pastor, Saturday, September 15, 6:30 p.m., Worship Center
Paul Veit, " The Dino Pastor, " presents a compelling presentation for the whole family including real dinosaur eggs, a 100 lb. Dinosaur Dung, and a six-foot-long Tylosaur skull. City on a Hill Church is sponsoring this program.
Church Business Meeting, September 30, 9:45 a.m.
Our regular Business Meeting will be held in Room 317. We will receive committee reports, the Leadership Council Nominating Committee will present 2 candidates for approval. (Other nominations may be presented at the September Business meeting, but they need to be submitted to the church office by September 9.) and the Deacon Nominating Committee will present their slate of deacons. If you have an item for the Business Meeting, please submit it to the church office or a member of Leadership Council by September 16.
Baptism and Biscuits! Saturday, September 22, 9:00-10:30 a.m.
Committing our life to Jesus and being baptized brings joy to the Lord and to the church. If you would like to talk more about being baptized then come join us for good biscuits and great conversation. We will discuss:

Christmas Gifts for Goochland
At the present time, no items for the Kits are being requested. The church near Goochland that organizes the items is able to purchase them at lower prices, and is requesting monetary contributions to make purchases in bulk.
