Serve on the 2020 Census Complete Count Committee
Application Deadline: extended to March 10, 2019

The City of Goodyear continues to experience rapid growth, so information collected in the upcoming census could have critical impacts on public policy, funding, and political representation. Residents who are informed about the census leading up to Census Day are more likely to respond.

This city committee will help raise awareness of and support 2020 Census activities in Goodyear.
Specifically:
  • plan and implement a public education campaign to promote timely Census responses
  • represent your neighborhood in activating and engaging residents around the importance of a complete count
  • ensure all of your neighbors are counted

We anticipate meetings will take place every other month on Wednesday evenings, with additional outreach activities led by committee members during spring 2020, leading up to Census day on April 1.

The city hopes to identify volunteer committee member from Goodyear neighborhood to ensure geographic diversity.

Complete Count Committee activities will kick off in March 2019 , and the group will work together for roughly 18 months.

Applicants must live in the city of Goodyear and be at least 18 years of age.

Contact Christian Williams , 623-882-7069 with any questions.

More info and the application can be found at http://www.goodyearaz.gov/census2020 .

The Dirt on Container Placement
Here are some helpful tips:
  • Some areas with HOAs have neighborhood-specific regulations for when your trash should be at the curb, so always check your community rules first, but it’s a good idea to put your container out after 6PM the night before; and, certainly no later than 6AM on the scheduled collection day. That way even if the driver gets there earlier than usual, you won’t miss your pick-up.
  • Place your trash can and recycling containers at the curb with the wheels facing your house and the lid opening into the street.
  • Keep your garbage cans three feet apart and 10 feet from any obstacles such as mailboxes, cars, streetlights, or tree limbs. Don’t forget to look up to make sure branches aren’t hanging over the bins!
  • Keep the lid closed and bag all garbage. Do not overfill your container. This also helps to eliminate odors, fly breeding and other pest problems and reduces the risk of debris being left behind during collection. Do not place items on top, next to or outside of the container. If you do, none of your trash will be picked up because collection is automated. All items must be inside the container for collection.

If you follow these guidelines, you shouldn’t have any problems with your collection, but as is always the case on rare occasions something can go wrong. So, if you have any issues with your collection, use the  city's mobile app  or website to  report a problem  .

Be sure to bring your containers in by 6AM of the day after collection and store the containers in such a manner that they are not readily visible from the street.
