Our show season continues with exciting opportunities for riders of all levels! Applications are open for several of USHJA’s special programs including the inaugural Platinum Jumper Championships, the Horsemanship Quiz Challenge, and more. The HITS Coachella Desert Circuit is in full swing now and many of our Zone 10 riders are gaining valuable show experience in Thermal. World Cup Finals are also just around the corner, and we are looking forward to seeing who will represent USA in Gothenburg in April. Best of luck to all of our riders in the show ring!

“The first half of Thermal has been incredible,” she shared. “My horses have been jumping super. They all feel very fresh and excited to be back in the ring again. It’s nice to get more grand prix experience here since I am very new to that level.”

Enroll in the Green Hunter Incentive and enjoy a Championship Experience Near Home!
Last year, USHJA launched a new benefit to the USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Program: regional championships! For Zone 10 competitors, there are two opportunities close depending on where in the Zone you're located, but you can only choose one!
The Northwest Championship is offered at Oregon High Desert Classic 2, July 24–28, 2019, in Bend, Oregon, and
the Southwest Championship is offered at the International Jumping Festival, September 18–22, 2019, in San Juan Capistrano, California.
In addition to the regional championship opportunity, horses enrolled in the USHJA Green Hunter Incentive can participate all year long in USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Stake Classes, and they can earn a spot at the Platinum Performance/USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Championships in Lexington, Kentucky, in August.
Horses must be enrolled to participate and recorded with the USEF and registered with the USHJA. Enrollment fee is $550 through June 1 and increases to $750 on June 2. For more information visit

Will a Zone 10 Competitor Top the Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Podium Again?
Could it be you this year? Registration for the 2019 USHJA Horsemanship Quiz Challenge is open! The HQC is an online quiz that tests participants' knowledge about horse anatomy, horse care and health, riding theory, stable management, and more horsemanship topics. Open to USHJA members (at any paid membership level) 21 and younger as of Dec. 1, 2018, the quiz offers participants a chance to qualify for the in-person HQC Nationals, which offers $6,000 in grants and prizes, and is held alongside the USHJA Emerging Athletes Program National Training Session.
The program is free and runs from February 1 to September 1.
“The HQC program gave me the incentive and the opportunity to learn and practice horsemanship on a whole new level,” Toni explained. “The chance to compete and collaborate with equine experts and fellow finalists has challenged me to become a better rider and horsewoman. This experience has also opened the door to other opportunities including clinics, internships, and working student positions!” - Toni Anderson, 2018 HQC Gold Medalist
