HHS Senior Jade Melton
Signs to the Trinity Valley Community College

Congratulations to HHS Senior Jade Melton on signing to Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas for volleyball. The Lady Cardinals Volleyball team, under the direction of Head Coach Aleah Hayes, recently ended their season with their best conference record in the 10-year history of the program.

Jade has been an instrumental part of the Hallsville program since she was in 7th grade, and is only the third Hallsville volleyball player to sign to play in college. This season, she helped the team to a 20-7-3 finish and advance to the District Championship game for the first time in Hallsville’s program history.
Jade’s high school career proved to be one of accomplishments and setting records. In addition to being a four year letter recipient, she was named to the Tri-County All Conference volleyball team for three years, named All-District all four years, and has also been recognized to the Columbia Daily Tribune Best of Prep All-Star team for the last two years. Jade also holds the school record for most kills in the following areas: Single Game (17 kills on October 23), Single Day Tournament (55 Kills in the Versailles tournament), Single Season Record (238 kills), and a Career Kill Record of 643.

At TVCC, Jade will complete her Associate Degree in biology before pursuing forensic pathology and science. We look forward to seeing Jade on the court in Texas!
Sheltered Reality
Intermediate Students Make Music!

Hallsville Intermediate had a great turnout during the Sheltered Reality parent show held last Wednesday evening. Parents were able to see for themselves a performance from the California, MO group site and have their questions answered and learn about student membership into the program. Sheltered Reality (SR) is a drum group for all ages, and they have practice sites across the Midwest with hundreds of members overall. SR drummers share the goals of (a) being the best you can be, (b) learning to work with others, (c) learning to help empower success in our audiences, and (d) learning to effect positive change in the world.
A total of 12 students signed up to join the program, and they are excited to get the practice site up and running in Hallsville. Each practice site or group receives the same training on the drums, allowing members from different cities and states to perform together at hundreds of shows per year. Members also participate in service projects each month with their local site. The Hallsville site will start practice in January, and they look forward to being able to perform for various audiences.

If you or your child is interested in learning more about Sheltered Reality, please contact Mrs. Campos, Intermediate School Counselor, at [email protected] or 573-696-5512. You can also learn more about Sheltered Reality here: https://www.sheltered-reality.org
