A TORAH MESSAGE FROM THE RABBI

Anti-Semitism is on the rise. In Europe, the recent series of Anti-Semitic incidents is appalling. Here in the states, you can barely go through a day without hearing about graves being desecrated in one city and swastikas being painted on windows in another city. The left blames the right and the right blames the left. It is time to stop blaming and to take steps to do something about it. Last week I suggested organizations that would be good to follow on social media. This week I am suggesting that we begin to contact our congressional and state representatives and ask them what they intend to do about it.

This disease has existed for as long as we have been a people. We had absolutely no control over it while we were in the Diaspora. Once we were reestablished in our homeland, the world seemed a bit less scary. Now the world uses the only Jewish nation as an excuse to hate the Jewish people.

Alan Dershowitz' article below gives a brief history of anti-Semitism and provides insight into the fact that the Jewish people have always been a target, and have been targeted by almost everyone.

We pray three times a day that the plans of those who wish to do us harm not come to fruition. We pray for peace multiple times at every prayer service. Most of those requests seek peace for the entire world. It leaves one to wonder why the world won't just let us exist and carry out our task of making this world a better place.

May we actively seek, and find, an end to the world's hatred of our people, may we have peace, and may the world learn to treat their neighbor as they would like themselves to be treated.

Shabbat Shalom - Rabbi Michael S. Jay

WHY SUCH A SURGE OF WORLDWIDE ANTI-SEMITISM
by ALAN DERSHOWITZ

Why are so many of the grandchildren of Nazis and Nazi collaborators who brought us the Holocaust once again declaring war on the Jews? Why have we seen such an increase in anti-Semitism and irrationally virulent anti-Zionism in Western Europe?

To answer these questions, a myth must first be exposed. That myth is the one perpetrated by the French, the Dutch, the Norwegians, the Swiss, the Belgians, the Austrians, and many other western Europeans: namely that the Holocaust was solely the work of German Nazis aided perhaps by some Polish, Ukrainian, Latvian, Lithuanian, and Estonian collaborators.

False.
