I hope you all enjoyed the day of golf, friends and food at
Monroe Golf Club earlier this month for our annual
RDGA Fall Event - I know I had a great time!
Thanks again to all
Delegates for your work this season - as well as voting on the full slate of
RDGA Board Members for 2019. Hopefully, you each had an opportunity to meet some of us at the Fall Event!
Although we now have some time to "recharge" before launching into the new season ahead of us, there are three things to consider and put on your "radar" over the next few months:
1)
OFF-SEASON RULES SEMINARS. The "new"
USGA Rules of Golf take effect on
January 1, 2019 - and the RDGA will be hosting seminars soon that will cover the major changes. These seminars will be of interest to your club's professional staff as well as tournament officials and membership. We will send out a schedule of these sessions as soon as they are finalized. (By the way, the new 2019 USGA Rules Books may be ordered in bulk for your club through the RDGA - all your club has to pay is the shipping costs. Call the RDGA at
585-292-5950 to place an order for your club.
Only one bulk order per club, please!)
2)
"NEW" GHIN TRAINING SESSIONS. The USGA has announced that the current
GHIN system, including
GHP Online as well as your club's
score-posting kiosk - even the
GHIN app for your smartphone - will be given a major overhaul and facelift in late spring/early summer of 2019. Again, the RDGA will be offering seminars and training sessions that will be of interest to you, as well as your club's handicap chairs and pro staff. Stay tuned for scheduling.
3)
ONGOING USGA TOURNAMENT MANAGEMENT TRAINING. Hopefully, your club "adopted" the use of the
USGA's new Tournament Management-Club system in 2018, which replaced the now-discontinued
TPP. HOWEVER, if your club has not set up their free USGA TM "Club" account or if your club has USGA TM Club but has not used it - or would simply like more training in its use - the RDGA will be hosting more seminars this off-season, beginning in November and continuing in December and April. Again - stay tuned for upcoming scheduling announcements!
