Mayor Paul Soglin on Tuesday outlined steps to address crime and violence around a new housing project for homeless families on the Far West Side, including assigning a deputy mayor to work out of the site.

To curb negative behavior that is affecting residents of a Madison affordable housing complex, a west side neighborhood and possibly the viability of the city's approach to fighting homelessness, Mayor Paul Soglin said Tuesday he is assigning a deputy mayor to monitor Tree Lane Family Apartments.

SHINE, of Janesville, said Tuesday it has reached an agreement with Deerfield Management Co., a New York health care investment firm. Deerfield will provide $150 million for construction of the facility that will make molybdenum-99, a radioisotope that decays into technetium-99m, used in more than 40 million medical imaging procedures each year.
