Course Selection &
Re-enrollment Due Tomorrow
At York Catholic, we are grateful for your partnership with us in the education of your children who bless our community every day with their talents. Please read the following information thoroughly as it contains important information regarding course selection, re-enrollment, and tuition assistance for the 2019-2020 school year.

Course Selection
Senior High students should be talking with their subject level teachers regarding appropriate course selection for 2019-2020. Students in grades 9 through 11 now have access to the online course selection portal in Vision. This will remain open until tomorrow, February 22. During this time, students should select their courses for next school year. After completing the process online, students are instructed to print the course selection sheet and have each of their teachers sign next to the desired subject courses. A parent signature is required as well. These forms will be due tomorrow, February 22, 2019.

Quick Links

Parents, please take the time to review our course catalog for next school year. We are excited to be offering three new courses: Yearbook for grades 11-12, Music Technology for grades 9-12, and Computer Science Discoveries for grades 9-10.

Re-enrollment
In an effort to prepare for the budget and enrollment numbers for next year, our re-enrollment process is aligned with our course selection. Tuition figures for next year will be published in early April after budget approval by the School Board. In order to budget appropriately, we are asking families to re-enroll now. The early re-enrollment fee is $150.00.  After tomorrow, February 22, 2019, the re-enrollment fee will increase to $200.00, with an increase to $250.00 after April 5, 2019. As in the past, $150.00 of the re-enrollment fee will be applied to your child's 2019-2020 tuition.

Tuition Assistance
If you plan to apply for assistance, please be sure to do so no later than April 15, 2019. If you require assistance in completing this application, you may make an appointment with our Business Office Manager, Ms. Heather Dougherty, March 19 or March 20,  at  [email protected]  or 717-846-8871 x215.

Green & Gold Gala
You are cordially invited to York Catholic's Green & Gold Gala, a festive evening of cocktails, dining, silent and live auctions, entertainment, and fun on Saturday, April 6, from 6-10 PM at the Country Club of York.

Please join us as we celebrate our YC pride and successes throughout the year.  All proceeds will benefit our York Catholic Fund, enabling us to invest in tuition assistance for those in need, a vibrant curriculum, technology upgrades, the arts and athletics, resources for our valued teachers, and the beautification and safety of our school.

Our planning committee is actively seeking donations for our live and silent auctions.  If you can contribute a gift certificate to a local restaurant or business, tickets to a sporting/cultural event, local attraction or getaway, it will truly help our efforts and make a difference in the lives of our students.  All donors will receive a receipt for tax purposes and grateful acknowledgement at the Green & Gold Gala.

Parent Referral Program
If you know a friend, family member, or anyone looking for a high-quality, Christ-centered education for their children who do not already attend a Catholic school, you could receive a $250 credit toward your child's tuition at York Catholic.

York Catholic's Parent Referral Program is a win-win for everyone involved. Referred students receive an outstanding education from York Catholic, while parents of the referred families get peace of mind knowing their child is gaining so much more than just a top-notch education.  Families who refer someone who registers at York Catholic receive a $250 credit towards their child's tuition.

You, as parents, are our best ambassadors.   In order for the Parent Referral Program to be a success, we need information about individuals who may be interested in joining the York Catholic family. All you need to do is click HERE to fill out the form. If the family you refer attends York Catholic through their first semester, your family's tuition will be credited $250, spread into 4 credits applied to the months of February, March, April, and May.

It really is that simple. So go ahead. Please click on the link above and allow us the opportunity to do what we love -- help to develop, nurture and encourage children so they may grow in faith, mind, and heart. Mail or email the form to us and we will take it from there!

The Parent Referral Program is open to all parents of current York Catholic students. The tuition credit is not available for referring your own children. The $250 credit is only good toward tuition on a student's account; no cash is given, and it is non-transferrable. A referred student applies only to a new student from a non-partner school.

Thank you for all you do for our school!

Mission Collection
Our Missions Collection on Wednesday, February 27, will be donated to Penn State Hershey's Four Diamonds Fund.  Our Student Council is working hard to present another fun and exciting Mini-THON on Saturday, March 9. The mission of the Four Diamonds Fund is to conquer childhood cancer by assisting children being treated at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital through superior care, comprehensive support, and innovative research.   Since its creation in 1972, the Four Diamonds Fund has helped thousands of children and their families, while supporting pediatric cancer research.  Penn State's programs are made possible thanks to the generosity of many donors, Mini-THONS, and THON held every year at Penn State's University Park. The February YC Missions Collection during homeroom is another way to donate to this worthy cause.

Math Counts!
In January, York Catholic Junior High students joined 160 students from around York County at the York College Invitational MathCounts competition. Three of the mathletes finished in the top 25%: John Weisser, Mary Zelis, and Miranda Kovach.  York Catholic's group of students formed three teams (3-4 students in each) with one of the teams finishing in 8th Place among 40 teams. Team members were: Sean Warren (captain), Maggie Motter, John Weisser, and Mary Zelis. Congratulations to all who competed, and good luck to those who qualified to move on to the chapter competition this Saturday at Millersville University: John Weisser, Mary Zelis, Miranda Kovach, Sean Warren, Allison Patera, Maggie Motter, Zachary Renoll, and Leah Gaito.
Congratulations

Hunter Karpulk has been selected to perform in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Central Regional Orchestra Festival which features 100 of the best high school musicians from over 40 school districts. Spring Sports Deadline
Spring sports teams begin practices on Monday, March 4. For exact practice times, contact the head coach or Mr. Bankos at [email protected] or 717-846-8871 x214.

Students wishing to participate in athletics must have the following paperwork filed online at ArbiterAthlete.com:
  • PIAA Physical Form
  • Athlete & Parent Agreement (last page of physical form)
  • ImPACT Test
Failure to submit the online paperwork by the deadline will mean the student will not be permitted to practice the first day of the season. For some sports, this could mean the student will not make the team. Click here to access the instructions for uploading information to ArbiterAthlete. Students wishing to play a spring sport MUST verify the paperwork and ImPACT test are on file with Mr. Hayek or Mr. Cross no later than Friday, March 1, at 3 PM; no exceptions.
Inclement Weather
During inclement weather that would cause a school closing or delay of schedule, York Catholic will call/text/email you through our One Call Now Emergency Notification system. Other modes of notification include WGAL TV-8, Fox43, and the YC website. Students from individual school districts are automatically excused if their district closes and does not provide transportation to YCHS. The exceptions to this are Southern and Southeastern. These students follow York Catholic's delay and closing schedule.
