ALL SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE THIS SUNDAY!

This Sunday, February 24, Sandusky Central Catholic is hosting our annual All-School Open House from 10:00am-1:00pm. The Dino-Mite Book Fair will be open in the Multi-Purpose Room, the Class of 2020 is hosting a Pancake Breakfast in the cafeteria from 8:30am-12:00pm, and the Spirit Store will be open. Administration and teachers will be available, and Mrs. Snow will be available to answer admissions questions. Bring a friend and join us this Sunday!

LADY PANTHER GRADES 3-8 VOLLEYBALL CLINICS
Beginning on Saturday, March 2 and running on Saturdays through March 30, the SMCC Lady Panther Volleyball coaching staff and high school players will be hosting Volleyball Clinics at the Sts. Peter and Paul gym. Grades 3-5 will meet from 8:30am-10:00am and grades 6-8 will meet from 10:30am-12:00pm. Participants will learn the basics on passing, setting, hitting, and serving. The cost for the clinic is $30 for the 5-week program, and includes a t-shirt and certificate.

TRI-PARISH MARDI GRAS CELEBRATION
On Tuesday, March 5, there will be a Tri-Parish Mardi Gras Celebration in the Sts. Peter and Paul Gathering Space from 6:30pm-7:45pm. Great food, including Gumbo, mini po boys, salad, and decadent desserts, will be served. There will be lively music and singing, great fun for the whole family! Create a colorful mask & accessories of your own (a great family activity) or choose from a limited selection that will be on hand. There will also be a King Cake, and the one who finds the baby hidden within their cake will be crowned King or Queen of the Celebration! During the last 15 minutes of our festivities, we will move into church for a reflective service with Deacon Phil Dinovo to begin our Lenten Season together in prayer. RE-ENROLLMENT IS NOW OPEN
A letter was mailed home to all current SCCS families last week with students entering grades 1-12 explaining the re-enrollment process for the 2019-2020 school year. Families may call to set up an appointment, or choose the online re-enrollment option through Final Forms. Once enrollment is complete, the tuition contract will be sent home for you to review, sign, and return with the $200 family enrollment fee. The $200 family enrollment fee is due by Friday, April 27, 2019 to be applied toward next year's tuition balance. After April 27, the fee will no longer be applied to tuition. SCCS FISH FRY PRESALE TICKETS
It's that time of year again, time for SCCS Lake Erie Perch Fish Fry Fridays! Students in grades 6-12 received envelopes this week with ten $15 presale tickets to sell. Money and all unsold tickets must be returned to school by Monday, February 25. There are incentives again this year for students. Five tickets sold by February 25 earns a donut and juice day, and ten tickets sold earns lunch at HDT and a root beer float at Soda Pop's.The SCCS Fish Fry will be held at Holy Angels Parish Hall, 428 Tiffin Avenue on Friday March 1, 8, 15, 22 and April 5 and 12, from 5:00pm-8:00pm.
EDCHOICE SCHOLARSHIP RENEWALS
Any family who is currently receiving the EdChoice Scholarship should have received the renewal paperwork in the mail. SOCIAL MEDIA, GAMING, AND THE DEVELOPING BRAIN
Do you feel your child spends too much time on their gaming device? Is your teen focused more on their cell phone than the world around them? On Wednesday, February 27, from 6:00pm-7:00pm, Firelands Regional Medical Center is hosting a Community Forum with a panel of experts to address questions and concerns regarding possible effects of today's technology and media on our cognitive, physical, and socio-emotional well-being. NOSF GRADES K-8 SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
The Northwest Ohio Scholarship Fund is an income-based scholarship for current students entering grades K-8 for the 2019-2020 school year. The scholarships are 100% need-based, because NOSF believes that income should not be a barrier to a quality education. Each scholarship is based on individual family size and income, with a maximum scholarship of $1,500 per child.

CLASS OF 2020 PANCAKE BREAKFAST AT OPEN HOUSE
The SMCC Class of 2020 is hosting a Pancake Breakfast and Bake Sale during Open House on Sunday, February 24, from 8:30am-noon. Tickets for the breakfast are $5 and children 3 years old and younger are FREE. Meal includes pancakes, sausage and coffee, milk, orange juice or water.

There will be a mandatory parent/athlete meeting for students entering grades 7-12 interested in trying out for cheerleading on Wednesday, February 27, from 6:00pm-7:00pm in the PPC. Clinics will be held on Wednesday, March 6 and Thursday, March 7 from 5:00pm-6:30pm. Please meet in Mr. Fraylick's room. Tryouts will be held on Saturday, March 9 at 8:00am. The Mardi Gras Sadie Hawkins Dance is on Saturday, March 2 from 7:00pm-10:00pm. The dance is semi-formal and for students in grades 9-12. Tickets are $10 pre-sale, $15 at the door.
ABIGAIL M. BASTIEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Last year, the Abigail M. Bastien Memorial Scholarship was established. Abby exemplified the characteristics SMCC strives for in educating students: Strengthening the Body, Challenging the Mind, and Enriching the Spirit. Abby was a 2016 graduate of Sandusky St. Mary Central Catholic High School and was entering her sophomore year at Johns Hopkins University when she unexpectedly passed away on July 13, 2017. There is a $1000 scholarship available to an SMCC graduating senior who will be attending college next year. The deadline to apply is Friday, February 22. Please click here for an application.
