Volunteers Needed for Leadership Positions

MVMS PTSA Needs a Few Leaders!

Do you have a few hours this winter and spring? We have two important positions open:

Treasurer

We are looking for a very special parent to join our team in the key role of Treasurer, starting immediately!  Ours is relocating.  All you need is competency with Quickbooks, organization, time to join our meetings and a desire to help.  Please contact Jen Moore, if you'd like to know more.

PTSA 7th Grade Dance Chair

The PTSA relies on wonderful parent volunteers like you who can help out from home or spend a few hours at school to create a special event.  This year, the 7th grade class needs one (or two) intrepid parents to step up and Chair the 7th grade dance.  The dance takes place in March and planning will begin in the New Year.

In this role, you'll work closely with the movers and shakers on student council, and will support them in planning and making our 7th grade classes big night a success!

We look forward to hearing from you.  Contact Student Services VP, Rachel Howard-Hines  to volunteer or learn more about Chairing the 7th Grade Dance.

Parent Education

Parent Education:  Lets Talk Vaping
1/16/19 l 6:30 pm
MV Community Canter

We are pleased to  announce an event at the Mill Valley Community Center, on Wednesday, January 16th, at 6:30PM, in partnership with Tam High, The Marin County Office of Education, Mill Valley Aware, and Marin Health and Human Services around vaping and the use of e-cigarettes.

The presentation will discuss the vaping industry, how the e-cigarettes are used, how they are marketed, the health impacts they have on kids (and adults), and what we can do to educate our kids around the dangers of vaping.

Please see the attached flyer for more information and we hope to see you all there!

Lost and Found

Check Lost and Found before break!

Please take a moment to check the Lost and Found before you head out for the winter break! Even with the recent clean out a few weeks ago it is already full of jackets, lunchboxes, water bottles and and sweatshirts!

Gratitude to our Volunteers!

It's a Wrap!

MVMS's PTSA Community First would like to thank our students, parents and community members who generously donated their time and effort to help some of the most impactful community-based organizations in Marin and San Francisco, through our annual Holiday Wishes Drive.

Community volunteers--over 40 individual student and parent teams--worked hard leading up to the event, collecting gifts in the car line, keeping inventory, setting up the night before the event,  and volunteering at the event itself.  The event was a success! 72 students and over 50 parents, 2 principals and 2 community-based organizations came together on Saturday, December 8 and wrapped hundreds of presents and made personalized cards. It was a wonderful expression of compassion, motivation and determination alive in our community as we actively engage in making this a better, kinder world.

A special thank you to a special MVMS family who stepped up to donate 34 Project Night Night care packages for homeless children under 12.  That is truly in the spirit of what this season is about!   Thanks to our engaged community, we were able to partner with some of the most impactful profit organizations in the area, and to donate 320 gifts to Homeward Bound, Project Night Night, Huckleberry Wellness Academy, the Center for Domestic Peace, Side by Side Marin, and the Marin Foster Care Parents' Association.

Thank you so much for your generosity this holiday season!

Thanks also to the all the fall volunteers!
