H i Everyone -

Just breathe...

This past week has been hard for everyone. We all need time for each of us to come to peace with current events.

On a positive note, Santa Clara County has issued a new Public Health order. As of this Friday, June 5th, outdoor dining and in-store retail will be allowed, along with some other services and activities. Click Here to see the full order. We, along with the local business community and our chamber counterparts in the County, have been working hard to lobby Santa Clara County Public Health to follow the lead of the State to safely reopen. They are listening.

Chamber Response...
Many of you may have seen this on Facebook, but here is the Chamber response to current events. While we typically do not get political, we felt the need to make a statement about the death of George Floyd. We have provided resources if you'd like to delve into this issue further.

As we watch the nation-wide response to George Floyd’s unjust death, and the death of so many others before him, we at the Los Gatos Chamber want to unequivocally state that #BlackLivesMatter today and every day. We want to recognize that we are a staff of white individuals, and that our voices are not the ones that need to be amplified at this time. However, we want to use our position of privilege to call upon our fellow white Los Gatans to make anti-racist work a priority and to examine the privilege that so many of us have, to seek out resources in order to educate ourselves on the systems of oppression that we benefit from, to have tough conversations in our families, classrooms, businesses, and the Los Gatos community, and to recognize that though our work may be imperfect, we must continue to show up for the BIPOC members of our community: in town, in our state, and in our country. That work requires more than a statement, so we’ve included some resources and links below that might be helpful in starting or continuing anti-racist work.

  • Click Here for a list of anti-racism resources (podcasts, books, and more) compiled by activist Brittany Packnett.
  • The Conscious Kid (and @theconsciouskid on Instagram) is a great resource for parents and educators.
  • For those looking to donate, click here for some ideas for organizations to contribute to.
Do you have a student looking for Community Service hours? The Chamber needs some assistance with various projects around town. Jobs will include beautification, information distribution and public relations. This a great opportunity to learn more about the Chamber. Call us at 403-354-9300.
Support the Chamber
With your support we will be able to keep our doors open and continue to advocate for our businesses and Los Gatos community.
With every donation of $50 or more, you will receive a Friends of the Chamber decal, pictured above. Cats come in orange, blue or green.
The Chamber of Commerce, just like every business, is experiencing financial impacts due to COVID-19. Our ability to generate revenue has been greatly diminished due to the protocols necessary to control this pandemic. Despite all of these challenges, we have made our resources, webinars, and public policy advocacy available to the general public during this challenging time.

If you are interested in supporting our efforts to be a catalyst, convener and a champion for a stronger community, we would be grateful for your financial contribution of any size. We look forward to continuing to serve you all.
