Congress is for everyone



Are you a member of an association attending Congress 2019?  Check your association's page  and find all the information you need. Even if you are not a member (yet!) , Congress is a wonderful multidisciplinary learning environment for curious minds. You can register and attend any session open to all Early bird registration rates  end on March 31.

Congress is also for families and children! Two childcare programs will be offered on campus. Find out more and make sure you register your children by the deadlines.

Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation creates engaged leaders
Scholars, who are learning to become engaged leaders, need role models. Each year, the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation selects up to five Fellows and up to nine Mentors  dedicated to developing the capacity for engaged leadership among Scholars.  The application deadline is February 22, 2019 . If you have a potential candidate in mind, why not encourage them to apply?  
Jordan's Principle Scholarship
Are you a First Nations student studying children's health or children's disabilities at a Canadian post-secondary institution? Do you demonstrate a commitment to Indigenous children's health and community service as well as academic commitment and achievement? If so, you should  apply for the Jordan's Principle Scholarship (before the March 29 deadline) presented by the First Nations Child & Family Caring Society .
Propose a panel for CSPC 2019
Now's your chance to propose a panel for the 11th Canadian Science Policy Conference (CSPC). Proposal submissions are due April 5 and are welcome from across sectors and disciplines focused on a broad range of topics relating to research and public policy, including traditional knowledge and policy-making, science in the age of populism, and science diplomacy and new world order. CSPC 2019 will take place in Ottawa, ON from November 13-15, 2019.
Research Data Management Capacity Building Initiative
A new Research Data Management Capacity Building Initiative has been launched by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. This set of Connection Grants is designed to help the research community develop standards, practices, tools and skills related to research data management. Grant applications are being accepted on three separate 2019 deadlines: February 1, May 1 and August 1.
New funding for international 
HSS research
The British Academy is seeking humanities and social sciences (HSS) researchers based outside the UK for its Global Professorships program, which includes a four-year placement in the UK funded at up to $320K/year. The deadline to apply is March 6 . Also from the UK, the Wellcome Trust has launched the International Exchange Awards and Research Development Awards to support international HSS research networks. Applications are due July 2019 and Spring 2020, respectively.

     Dalhousie launches partnership with NCTR
Dalhousie University has partnered with the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR) to encourage education and awareness about Indigenous history on campus, and to serve as a constant reminder to students, fa culty and staff of the university's commitment to reconciliation.  Learn more about this significant step forward in  incorporating Indigenous education, research and support into the life of Dalhousie. 

McGill introduces Rossy Student Wellness Hub
McGill University is embarking on a campus-wide initiative to support the mental health and well-being of its students. The $14-million project will include construction of the new Rossy Student Wellness Hub, and will create an integrated campus-wide approach to providing accessible mental health services, with a focus on awareness, prevention and earlier intervention. Learn more about the Hub, set to open its doors this spring.
