Long Grove Budget Priorities
The Long Grove Village Board approved the amended 2018-2019 Village Budget and will be working on next fiscal year 2019-2020 with a public hearing scheduled for April 9, 2019. More information on this public hearing will be provided in the coming weeks.

As part of the amended 2018-2019 budget, there is $1.6 million allocated for public watermain improvements, streetscapes, and for the replacement of the Robert Parker Coffin (RPC) Road Bridge's wood cover. The Village Board is also considering additional structural improvements for the Bridge to be included in the new budget. As a result of being nearly 50% ahead of schedule in the 15-year road program, patching of roads will continue, and the remaining funds will be used to cover improvements in the downtown area. These improvements include the planned RPC Road reconstruction, which is scheduled to begin in late spring/early summer. While the Lake County Department of Transportation is handling the lion's share of improvements to Old McHenry Road, the Village is only responsible for streetscape improvements.

The RPC project will be different. Since it is a Village-owned road, the Village is responsible for 100% of the costs associated with this project, which will include extension of the public watermain, and prior to that extension, water and storm sewer drainage improvements. Old McHenry Road Construction Project Begins Again
Lake County Department of Transportation (LCDOT) road construction crews are beginning to resume work for the Old McHenry Road reconstruction project. Crews are planning to start the installation of driveway culverts and underdrains behind the curbs, as well as begin preparation work on the south/westerly side of Old McHenry Road.

Traffic Impacts: Motorists are advised to watch for workers and flaggers as trucks enter and exit the job site, and to be aware of daily lane closures as they are needed. LCDOT is working closely with the Village to coordinate construction and minimize impacts on the community and businesses, as well as during the yearly festivals. A one-way detour for northbound traffic will be necessary south of Robert Parker Coffin Road. All businesses in the downtown will be open and accessible during construction.

The project will ultimately include intersection improvements at Robert Parker Coffin Road, including the changeover from a four-way stop to a controlled traffic signal. Pavement reconstruction and resurfacing, drainage improvements, installation of new sidewalks (also ADA accessible) and bike paths, street lighting and landscaping are all part of this project. For more information, visit the project website here.
