Junior Achievement of South Florida's interactive career exploration program, JA Inspire, was a major success last week! 2,000 students from schools across Broward County discovered potential career paths from 35+ interactive exhibitors representing various industries.
There was also a special presentation by JA Fellows students from Dillard High School to local leaders introducing the school safety product.
Latinos In Action students from Monarch High School have set the bar high when it comes to giving back. This dedicated group often volunteers with 5th grade students participating in the JA BizTown program at JA World. We are inspired by these high school students who are having an impact on the students coming behind them.Thank you for your commitment!
"I had a really fun time meeting the kids and getting to know them, leading them in life was exciting and adventurous." - Tiffany, 12th Grade
JA Career Bound Students Learn About Careers in Top Local Industries
It's been an exciting year for our JA Career Bound students! They recently visited
Broward Health Coral Springs and met the leadership team, as well as learned CPR, took a tour of the Radiology department and watched a surgical robot demonstration.
JA Career Bound also had its marine industry day, hosted by
Marine Industries Association of South Florida, which included a water taxi ride through the Intercoastal Waterway and hearing from marine-related professionals.
The goal of these program days is to introduce industries and career opportunities to 150 South Florida high school students.
Special thanks to some of our elected officials who took time from their busy schedules to tour JA World Huizenga Center at the Lillian S. Wells Pavilion and inspire the students we serve.
Recently visiting JA were (top row, left to right) County Commissioner Michael Udine, State Representative Ted Deutch, City of Parkland Commissioner Bob Mayersohn and City of Hollywood Commissioner Richard Blattner. Bottom row are Broward School Board Chair Heather Brinkworth, City of For Lauderdale Vice Mayor Ben Sorensen and City of North Lauderdale Mayor Ann Ziade.
Junior Achievement of South Florida is thrilled to announce the hiring of Ken Urquhart as our Youth Employment Manager and promotion of Fabi Melendez to Workforce Coordinator.
Fabi has been interning with JA for several months, but has recently been promoted to Workforce Coordinator where she will assist the Workforce team in managing the JA Career Bound program.
Junior Achievement of South Florida inspires and prepares young people to succeed in a competitive, global economy by providing real world training in financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness.
