Fall 2018 Winter Break Closing
November 14, 2018
Dear Parents and Families,

The end of the fall 2018 semester is fast approaching and we hope your student has had an exceptional living and learning experience with us. In this Familinks newsletter you will find useful information regarding the housing closing process for winter break.

Housing and Residence Life closes at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018. Residents who have not received approval to stay late or stay during winter break must leave 24 hours after their last final or by 6 p.m. on December 12, whichever comes first.

If a resident has a final that starts at noon or after on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, they can wait to leave by noon on Thursday, December 13, 2018. However, they must submit the online stay late request form.

Requests to stay during break or stay late can be found on myUSI via the Housing icon.

If you have any questions about winter break, please call Housing and Residence Life at

Campus Safety
Feeling safe on campus is one of the most important things when it comes to living in a cohesive environment. There are several things you can do to make yourself feel more safe and to ensure your safety while on campus. Some tips include: program Public Safety's number into your phone, know where blue emergency phones are located, avoid walking alone, walk in well-lit areas, always lock your apartment/car doors, and be alert to strangers. USI is a safe campus, but you can never be too careful when it comes to your personal well-being. Learn more safety tips here .
