For a couple years I’ve been bouncing around this idea of doing a custom printed adventure shelf file. What’s a shelf file? Well, let me show you a photo of one of my bookshelves:
|
See all those adventure modules spine-out? It’s much easier to display adventures on a shelf if you have a file system like this. I use generic magazine shelf files to hold the adventure modules. I think they’re from Ikea, or maybe it was The Container Store. I can’t remember where I got them. Although now that I look at these photos, I think I need to clean all the clutter off!
Anyway, it would be a lot more fun to have something custom-printed with cool art, than these generic files. It would even be cooler if it had
DCC
art!
I asked one of my regular printers if they could do a cardstock version of a magazine file. Turns out, yes they can! Not only that, but they figured out the construction so it actually folds up flat, which makes it easy to ship, then it sort of pops into place when you unfold it.
Wouldn’t it be cool if Doug could paint custom art on one of these? It looks like we can do this for about $20 each.
Let me know if this is something you’re interested in, folks! It’s something I personally want for my bookshelf, so I need an excuse from fans to make it happen.

AN UPDATE ON RETURN TO THE STARLESS SEA
|
Gen Con has canceled its physical presence, and announced that it is going strictly online. Which means that we—obviously—won’t be having a physical tournament. That does NOT, however, mean that we won’t be doing the tournament at all.
Return to the Starless Sea
is still going to happen, though not in its original form! Like a lot of things, it’s going online...

"THE FLAGSHIP PUBLICATION FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE ADVENTURE FANTASY"
|
Since the debut of the first issue,
Tales From The Magician’s Skull

The fourth issue of the series is now on the stands and making some great waves of its own. In fact, one of them was so special that we wanted to share. Here’s an excerpt from the review on Blackgate.com: “In four short issues Tales of the Magician’s Skull has become the flagship publication for English language adventure fantasy, and it looks the part.”

1650-1720: The Golden Age of Piracy, a time where the seas were ruled by those with the most powerful fleets—but those desperate (or greedy) enough could live like kings.
You are no hero…
You’re a pirate: a corsair, a buccaneer, a sea-beggar, a whipcord-tough cutthroat plying the devil’s trade. You seek gold and glory, taking it with sword and cannon fire, awash in the blood of those who would oppose you, and the tears of those too weak to stop you.
There are treasures to be won upon the seas, and you shall have them.
In issue #1 you will find:
- Core Rules – Character Basics
- Mechanic – Star Signs
- Character Class – The Jonah
- Mechanic – The Devil’s Own Luck
- Inspirations – Sailing Superstitions
- Mechanic – Ill-Fortune
- Monsters – Sea Beggar’s Bestiary
