Province Will Retain AGLG Office           
 
Selina Robinson, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, has announced that the province will retain the office of the Auditor General for Local Government (AGLG) following the completion of a five-year review. The review found that a significant number of respondents had made changes to local practices based on the outputs of the AGLG. The report also flagged the high average cost of performance audits, with a cost per audit of $500,000. Read more 
Throne Speech Highlights          
 
The Honourable Janet Austin, Lieutenant Governor, delivered the Speech from the Throne to open the fourth session of the forty-first parliament of British Columbia yesterday. The Government's Throne Speech commits the government to continue advancing its policies with regard to housing, childcare, climate action and reconciliation with First Nations. Read more 
C2C Forum Status Report   
 
For nearly two decades, the Regional Community to Community Forum program has been a driving force in efforts to build, mend and transform relationships among neighbouring First Nations and local governments in BC. A status report outlining the outcomes of the program's past ten years is now available. Read more 
Toward Parity  
 
The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) is partnering with local government associations and women's organizations to develop an action plan to address barriers to women's participation in local government - the Toward Parity initiative. Read more 
2018 UBCM Convention Minutes   
 
The minutes of the 2018 Annual Convention are available on the UBCM website. These minutes comprise the official record of the proceedings of the 2018 Annual Convention, and include, when available, the addresses given by guests from other orders of government and other organizations.
