Come to AxS Festival's Sunstar closing event

Old Pasadena will be the site for the festival's closing event - an installation of a special sequence of colors, or "Sun Songs," titled "Sunstar" and created by artists Liliane Lijnthat and John Vallerga. It will only be viewable Sunday, November 11 from Memorial Park. Between 1-2:30 p.m. enjoy a free concert by the acclaimed Los Angeles chamber music group wasteLAnd! Bring a blanket, bring your friends and family, and enjoy this very unique artwork shining brightly from the top of the solar observatory at Mt. Wilson!

City of Pasadena fiscal 2019 budget report available on line

It's more than spreadsheets of how money is spent, where it comes from and where it needs to go in the future. The report is an explanation of how our management is structured, its services to the city, who is in charge and exactly what they do for us. More importantly, the report explains where reductions have been made and will be made to balance the budget based on projected revenues.

The Occasional Pasadena Doo Dah Parade began as a grassroots event in 1978 to gain national attention for its eccentric and, often, irreverent satire. This year it's Sunday, November 18 - Step off starts at 11:00 a.m. Click HERE for free tickets and entry forms.

Winter watering schedule reminder: From  November 1 through March 31 , the winter watering schedule resumes and outdoor watering is only permitted on Saturdays before 9 a.m. and after 6 p.m .

EDITOR'S TOP NEWS PICKS
>CLICK ON  HEADLINES FOR MORE INFORMATION<

"State Assemblymember Chris Holden (D-41), along with U.S. Congresswoman Judy Chu (D-27), and Congressman Adam Schiff (D-28), all of whom represent Pasadena in Sacramento and Washington D.C., easily won re-election to their respective seats in the general election Tuesday." Pasadena Now

"Spokesman Greg Risling of the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office said Wooten was found guilty of 53 charges including embezzlement, conflict of interest, and misappropriation of public funds, and faces a maximum of 24 years in prison. Wooten funneled some of the stolen money to co-defendant Tyrone Collins, 59, who owns Collins Electric, the prosecutor said. Collins was convicted today of 20 counts and those counts included embezzlement and misappropriation of public funds, said Risling. Collins faces up to 15 years in prison." Pasadena Now

"The Center for Digital Government, a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies and best practices in state and local government, has chosen the City of Pasadena as one of the winners in the 2018 Digital Cities Survey, out of about 30,000 cities and towns in the U.S. In ranking Pasadena, the Center said the City has made the use of data a top priority and has heavily utilized its Information Technology department to execute its plans." Pasadena Now

"About 90 Pasadena police officers are taking part in training this week to learn how to save as many lives as possible using innovative medical training in the event of an active shooter or other mass casualty incident, authorities said. The program focuses on teaching police officers, who are often the first to arrive on the scene of a tragedy, tactical medical skills to help them render life-saving aid to injured victims before other first-responders, such as paramedics, are able to access the scene." Pasadena Now

"County Education Office will not allow District to include any revenue from future sales tax revenues in its budget calculations. Meanwhile, the City Council is treading lightly with regard to approving sharing future tax revenue with the School District. Suggestions from Councilmembers ranged from depositing the new tax revenue into a reserve account rather than giving it directly to the District, and even sharing less than the recommended one-third of the new tax revenue." Pasadena Now
