It's Not Too Late to Register for the 2019 Building for Tomorrow Staff Conference!

All Conservation District employees are welcome to attend this two-day event.
 
Day 1 features a fun and inspiring keynote on mission, values, and culture - as well as a fascinating general session exploring public opinion on conservation work.
 
Day 2 features an insightful interactive workshop on sexual harassment and the importance of respect in the workplace.
 
The conference also includes practical education for district staff on topics such as grant writing, social media, public meetings, worksite safety, and public accessibility of information.

New CREP Radio and TV Spot

The PA Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP) Outreach Program Office (housed at PACD) recently released a 30 second public service announcement for radio and television.
 
The public service announcement may be used by conservation districts and partners to help promote the CREP program.

PA Envirothon
Volunteers Needed! 2019 Pennsylvania Envirothon State Competition
 
Volunteer for the Pennsylvania Envirothon if you would like to:
  • Support Pennsylvania's Youth
  • Share your expertise with hundreds of students committed to conserving our natural resources
  • Inspire and motivate others in conservation, preservation, and overall environmental awareness and stewardship
  • Experience the Natural Challenge of the Envirothon
The Pennsylvania Envirothon invites you to volunteer at the 2019 Pennsylvania Envirothon State Competition .
  • Tuesday, May 21 - University of Pittsburgh Johnstown
  • Wednesday, May 22 - Windber Recreation Park

You can also support the PA Envirothon competition by purchasing 50/50 raffle tickets at the upcoming PACD/SCC Winter Meeting which benefits the PA Envirothon.
PAEE Conference Open for Registration

The 2019 PA Association of Environmental Educators (PAEE) Conference will take place March 18-19, 2019, at the Renaissance Philadelphia Airport Hotel in Philadelphia, PA. The theme is "Cityscapes & Greenscapes."

Riparian Forest Buffer Summit Registration Deadline is Friday!

The Pennsylvania Riparian Forest Buffer Summit will be held February 20 - 21, 2019 at the Best Western Premier, The Central Hotel & Conference Center, 800 East Park Drive, Harrisburg, PA.

Conservation professionals working with forest buffers from all sectors -- from beginners to seasoned decision makers -- are encouraged to attend.

USDA Continues to Seek Public Input on its Updated Wetland Determination Guidance


Farmers are reminded that updated guidelines for wetland determinations are posted and available for public input. The U.S. Department of Agriculture wants to remind the public that the 60-day comment period for the updated guidance is open through February 5.
This opportunity to comment is not impacted by the lapse in appropriations. Those interested in participating are encouraged to review and comment on the interim final rule on the  Federal Register .
