Welcome to our January Newsletter and a Happy New Year.
With Christmas now behind us it finds us all looking towards 2019 and what it holds in store for us with Brexit on the horizon! As many people and businesses are unsure of what this will mean to them, what most do know is that life and business will go on as usual and can't, and shouldn't stand still!
The British Craft Trade Fair has been for over 44 years shouting about what Britain does best, so British independent manufacturing, design and innovation couldn't be more important than it is right now. This is the time for designer-makers to shine in an economy wanting to support its own, and turning away from overseas products, the hand-made sector has seen real growth and demand is out stripping supply.
This April BCTF will connect you with craftsmen and women ready and able to supply to trade, an outstanding selection of work will be on show affording you plenty of choice not only in product ranges but also in pricing. Hand-made does not need to be expensive we have plenty of great makers creating affordable unique gifts and homeware.

Alison has been making and developing handmade porcelain pieces for about 8 years now. She gets much of her inspiration from views of her local surroundings by the sea in Devon. She has developed a way of making 3D items which include boats and tea-light houses (her passion!). The houses range from tiny to XXL (electrical table lamps) and the translucency of the porcelain really stands out when a light is placed inside. Alison simply loves vibrant colour and pattern. She prefers to use porcelain as her medium as she finds that a true depth of colour can be achieved. Each piece is individual, she can't make two the same! Some creations change shape and warp in the kiln, but Alison believes this only adds to enhancing its uniqueness.

Emine, who created Silverkupe jewellery, is a designer-maker of contemporary jewellery. Her work often explores amalgamation of materials and techniques to achieve harmonious wearable objects. She combines traditional silvermithing techniques with metal clay techniques. Her pieces reflect architectural and minimalist motifs with distinctive textures and patinas. She uses copper, silver, gold accents and concrete. Currently she experiments with enamelling to widen her "seed" series which will be showcased at the BCTF 2019. She is a member of Network Artists North East, Association for Contemporary Jewellery, and The Craft Council. This will be her second year at BCTF and she is looking forward to sharing her love of jewellery with everybody.

Rhianne graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in 2017 in Textiles and Surface Design. The business was then born later that year.
All artwork is created by Rhianne and often inspired by her beautiful rural surroundings within the North of England.
The artwork is developed, digitally printed onto fabric and then made into beautiful products either in studio or in the UK by carefully selected manufacturers.
Products currently include Limited Edition Artwork -Hand finished with foil, Bone China, Coasters, Notebooks, Pens, Cosmetic Bags, Cushions, Tea Towels, Oven Gloves, Aprons, Table Runners and Scarves.
Rhianne takes on private commissions, whilst trading at retail shows throughout the year and stocks various shops scattered over the North of England and the Scottish Borders and hopes to expand her recognition across the country.

A unique range of gift and homewares inspired by her love of animals, bold colours and textures.
Jennifer's playful style merges traditional pen and ink sketches with modern digital design to create a fresh and contemporary collection of products appealing to both children and adults alike.
Products include illustrations, limited edition screen prints, vibrant textiles and stationery.
Her screen prints are hand pulled in her Berkshire based home studio using eco-friendly water-based inks on FSC certified card.
Jennifer is proud to support British manufacturing for all of her paper and textile products which are printed and produced in the UK.
