(1) REMINDER: District G CIP Meeting March 19:

REMINDER: The annual District G Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 19, at 6:30 P.M.  It will be held at the Tallowood Baptist Church, 555 Tallowood Rd., Houston, TX 77024. Attendees are requested to enter via the Narthex Entrance on the south side of the building, and proceed to the Chapel where the meeting will be held.

Residents are invited to hear from Mayor Sylvester Turner and Houston Public Works Director Carol Haddock regarding future capital improvement projects, local issues and community news.  In addition, Hurricane Harvey impact updates will be provided.

(2) Council Member Travis Visits Subsurface Detention Project:

 

Council Member Travis took a tour of a new construction project which will significantly improve drainage, mobility, safety and access management in the area. By maximizing the subsurface detention, the new drainage system will meet the City of Houston's two and 100-year storm water criteria and reduce flooding in the area. The proposed improvements will provide approximately 8 acre-feet of detention underneath the roadway. What is shown in these pictures is the current and future direction of drainage and detention. We will detain water under our streets as one method of solving our flooding problems. As Rebuild Houston continues we will do more in our district and throughout the city. Every bit of detention helps.
