Spotlight: Focus on Existing Business Support
Existing business is the backbone of any economy, and several organizations throughout Augusta County and the Shenandoah Valley are working to strengthen the workforce pipeline and provide valuable tools for our existing businesses.
The Shenandoah Valley Partnership announced the hiring of new Executive Director Dr. Jay Langston. Dr. Langston is most recently the Managing Director of Business Retention and Expansion at the Virginia Economic Development Partnership.
The InDemand Job Series, marketing high-demand, high-growth, and high-wage occupations among our regional employers, has launched Phase II of the series thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Shenandoah Valley Partnership, the Shenandoah Valley Workforce Development Board, and WHSV-TV3. Watch the initial videos here, plus stay tuned for new segments.
Next week is National Apprenticeship Week! The Week celebrates the apprenticeship model, a grow-your-own approach to workforce development. Organizations such as Valley Career and Technical Center will hold events to bring attention to this career pipeline model.
