Happy New Year Animal Lovers!
PetConnect Rescue News - December 2017 Edition
Dear PetConnect Rescue Family,

What a great year it's been! In 2017, PetConnect Rescue saw new successes and hit some new milestones too, all with the help of our amazing volunteers and supporters. We couldn't do it without you, and for that we say, thank you. Here's to an amazing 2018 ahead!

2017 PetConnect Rescue accomplishments
  • A strengthened relationship with Florence Area Humane Society in Florence, SC in part thanks to two in-person trips made by Executive Director, Catherine Edwards, and volunteers to see the facility and meet the staff and volunteers face-to-face.
  • 10,000 Likes on Facebook! Our Social Media presence on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter continues to grow and other platforms will be explored in the coming months.
  • A senior dog program which emerged from the growing concern for the overlooked senior dog population in our shelters. with dedicated fosters and volunteers and a more formal rollout coming in 2018.
  • New partnerships created in the wake of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria. We were able to save over 40 animals from areas directly impacted by these hurricanes in the weeks and months that followed.
  • A successful Wine, Whiskers, and Wags event with over 160 supporters in attendance and over $40,000 raised for the animals!
  • Placing close to 500 dogs and over 150 cats in their forever homes!
Warm wishes,

Katie Buckner

Tax Changes in 2018
Many of you may be wondering how PetConnect Rescue will be affected by the recently passed Tax Bill. We don't know exactly how donations will be affected in 2018 and beyond with the anticipated tax law going into effect but we do know that homeless animals won't stop needing our help. Now is a great time to contribute stocks or other securities that have appreciated in value as you may have increased tax benefits this year. Be sure to consult with your tax adviser for more information.

PetConnect Rescue Updates
Is your New Years resolution to get passionate about a cause?
Are you ready to make a difference? We need you!

Did you know that PetConnect Rescue is mostly volunteer run?

That's right. PCR has a small staff to coordinate paperwork, oversee adoptions, run our social and fundraising events and care for Muddy Paws Farm, but mostly, our volunteers are the ones that work to place our animals. And they need your help. If your New Years resolution is to get more involved in a cause, we've got a job for you.

Volunteer opportunities:
  • Foster
  • Work adoption events
  • Transport
  • Help at Muddy Paws Farm
  • Conduct home visits
  • Help with fundraising
  • Teach kids humane education
  • Start a blog
  • Use your graphic design or video making skills to help us promote PCR
