GSSCC Needs Your Input: DOT Proposal Would Increase Parking Rates, Eliminate Free Saturday Parking in FY23

In order to meet the stated budgetary needs of the Silver Spring Parking Lot District, t he Montgomery County Department of Transportation plans to propose increasing rates and hours for paid parking enforcement throughout Silver Spring. The proposal would substantially increase hourly rates in either FY20 or FY21, including increasing the cost of a Parking Convenience Sticker (PCS); extend enforcement hours from the current 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays in FY22; and eliminate free parking on Saturdays beginning in FY23. GSSCC is concerned that the rate increases are too much, too fast and that parking needs to remain free evenings and weekends. We need your comments and input on how this will affect your business. Please email Jane Redicker with your concerns.
