John Manchester, along with his wife Jill, are the owners of one of the best candy stores in Chicago -
Windy City Sweets (3308 N. Broadway).
In 2011, John and Jill decided to purchase a business, but weren't so sure what type of business they would buy. Jill, a hardcore passionate candy lover since a young age, badly wanted a candy store. John on the other hand, was looking to buy something related more to his previous experiences in engineering. But after taking a look at Windy City Sweets and tasting the homemade chocolates from baker and former owner Jerry Sherwood, John agreed to buy the candy shop.
Windy City Sweets has been a staple in Lakeview East for 25 years, with Sherwood putting his love for candy and baking into every single bite. Since Windy City Sweets was bought by the Manchesters, Sherwood continues to still be the main chocolatier and baker at the shop.
For the past 7 years, John and Jill have continued to instill the joy and timelessness that Windy City Sweets brings to their customers. The store has also been a member of the chamber for 2 decades, and a great one at that! They will continue to be a staple in our neighborhood for a very long time - and we're extremely happy to have them here!

Parking Passes
The 2019 residential parking passes are here! They are valid to be used now, but make sure that you use the 2018 ones before the end of the year. The new ones are purple (see below), while the 2018 passes are red.

Surge Pricing
The surge pricing that has been going on for the past 2 years in Wrigleyville during Cubs games and entertainment at Wrigley Field is no more.
Alderman Tom Tunney agrees that this is a big win for the small businesses in the Wrigleyville area!

19th District Community Alternative Policing Strategies (CAPS)
The 44th Ward is served by the 19th District (bounded by Lawrence, Lake Shore Drive, Fullerton, and the Chicago River). Each police district is divided in beats, and each beat has a team of beat officers assigned to it. Police representatives from these teams and local community leaders conduct the CAPS meetings.
