February 2, 2019 - Volume 17 Issue 2
We are doing things a little different this month.  It's a Top Ten List!  The Top Ten Ways you can be involved, give back, make an impact and do something caring in your community this month.  Can you commit to doing at least ONE thing on this list?  What about two?  What will it be?  Hint:  One of the most important things you can do this month is listed at number 1!

10.
Shop at our thrift stores

When you shop at The Shop at The Caring Place or Second Helping you are supporting the mission to help neighbors in need.  We call this "Shopping for Good."  Shopping with us means you are an environmentally responsible and socially aware consumer. And, because you are a newsletter subscriber you get the inside scoop on certain sales!  For example, we know February 7th-9th, Second Helping is having a Kitchen Sale!  And, look forward to a Mystery Sale on Valentine's Day at Second Helping, too!

9.
Shop at the Jewelry Show

"Shopping for Good" also happens at our Jewelry Shows.  Join us February 7th from Noon to 3pm at 2001 Railroad Avenue as we make a bigger impact with this special event.  Then head across the street to The Shops at The Caring Place and find more treasures!

8.
Donate items

Have you gone overboard watching Marie Kondo on Netflix too?  If that item is not sparking joy anymore, we can take it and sell it in our thrift shops!  For large item donations you can even schedule our truck to pick it up for you.  Call the donations line at 512-943-0711.  For a full list of what items we do and do not take, please visit our website here...

7.
Register your Randalls Card

This is a way you can help without spending more than you already intended on your own groceries.  Simply make sure your non-profit of choice is listed as The Caring Place #13870 on your Randalls Remarkable card and a percentage of your purchases will come back here!  Bring the request form to Customer Service at Randalls.  You can download and print the form from our website here...

6.
Donate Food

One of the greatest ways we can help neighbors in need is to ensure they are receiving food.  When families are fed, they can use limited funds on other important priorities.  You can find the latest Food Pantry List on our website here...

5.
Volunteer

You've probably heard we have nearly 500 volunteers.  They are kind of a big deal around here.  They work in our stores, meet with clients, work in the pantry, the warehouse, reception and everywhere in between.  We couldn't make the same impact in the community without volunteers.  And, if you enjoy volunteering, we can always use you!  Read more about volunteering here...

4.
Tell a Friend

Word of mouth is a huge part of how people learn about The Caring Place. You can  tell a friend about us, share a post from our blog, share a press release, rate us on Yelp, review us on Google, or recommend us on Facebook!  Anything you can do to keep our neighbors shopping here, volunteering here and giving here is a help!  Also, when you share about The Caring Place, you may also be planting a seed of hope with someone who may need the resources we can offer in a time of crisis.  Click on any of the blue links above to read more about these ways to spread the word!

3.
Good Neighbor Fund

If you live in Georgetown, this program is a great way to help those struggling with utility costs.  Read more here...

2.
Attend our Amplify Austin Kick-Off event on Feb. 28

Amplify Austin Day is a 24-hour period of online giving!  This year we are having a kick-off party to celebrate with neighbors, friends and customers!  Enjoy live music, drawings and treats on February 28th from 5pm-7pm!  Staff will be on hand to help you make online donations on our computers.  Donations will be matched by St. David's Foundation and by the generous board of The Caring Place.  Find more info on this event and the link to schedule a donation here...

1.
