RDGA HONORS
PLAYERS of the YEAR
for 2018!

Winning RDGA Players of the Year awards for 2018 were, left to right, Stafford's Jim Scorse, Men's Player of the Year; Jenna Hoecker of Brook-Lea, Women's Player of the Year; Oak Hill's Jim Mason, Senior Player of the Year; Jeremy Summerson of Cobblestone Creek, the RDGA Boys Junior Player of the Year; and Mikah McDonnell of Webster, the RDGA Girls Junior Player of the Year.

Reflecting on a busy season - one that included a schedule of 23 tournaments between May and October - the annual RDGA Fall Event at Monroe Golf Club on Monday, October 15 included a presentation of the District's Players of the Year Awards for Men, Women and Juniors.

RDGA Tournament Director Michael Sorce presented the District's top honors for Players of the Year - which included two new awards for Senior and Girls Junior Players of the Year honors, along with the annual RDGA awards for Men, Women and Boys Juniors.

Jim Scorse of Stafford Country Club, was announced as the 2018 RDGA Men's Player of the Year for an unprecedented 15th time since the inception of the award in 1997.

Winning the RDGA Women's Player of the Year honors for 2018 was Brook-Lea's Jenna Hoecker , who also won the award in 2015 and 2016.

Winning this year's Boys Junior Player of the Year was Jeremy Summerson of Cobblestone Creek, who finished a mere 12 points ahead of Aiden Spampinato, winner of this year's RDGA Junior Boys Championship title.

And in the two NEW Player of the Year categories for 2018, Webster's Mikah McDonnell won the inaugural Girls Junior Player of the Year award by a wide 53-point margin over runner-up Jayde Ford of Irondequoit; and Oak Hill's Jim Mason won the inaugural RDGA Senior Player of the Year award on the strength of a victory in the Brook-lea Invitational Senior Division, as well as top-10 finishes in seven other state and local senior championships.

FALL EVENT at MONROE

RDGA officials, Delegates, volunteers and staff attended the RDGA's annual Fall Event & Awards Program, hosted by Monroe Golf Club, above, on Monday, October 15.

A casual day of golf - followed by a fun evening of activity - was enjoyed by volunteers, course raters, Rules officials and RDGA Member Clubs at the annual RDGA Fall Event & Awards Program on October 15.

Hosted by Monroe Golf Club - site of the 2018 RDGA District Championship - the invited guests played a round of golf as a thank-you for their support of RDGA events and programs throughout the year, followed by an evening reception in the Monroe clubhouse, where the 2019 slate of RDGA Board Members were introduced.

Aside from thanking volunteers and supporters of the RDGA's efforts throughout the year, the annual RDGA Fall Event also offered District officials the opportunity to present a "state of the RDGA" address.

It's been a great year and I look forward to laying the groundwork for a successful 2019 as we move into fall," said Mark Battle , who completed his second year in office as RDGA President in 2018.

RDGA GOLFERS - IF YOU HAVEN'T
ADDED A UNIQUE EMAIL
to YOUR GHIN ACCOUNT, PLEASE DO SO

A reminder to all RDGA Members with an active USGA GHIN Handicap: if the email address in your player profile is shared with at least one more golfers registered in the RDGA GHIN database,we ask that you please provide a unique email address that can be attributed to your player profile individually. There are several reasons for this request including security, communication and ability to connect you to your scoring record.

As we look to the future and the introduction of new tools such as a new mobile app and GHIN.com for score posting, in order for you to utilize these features you will be required to create an online profile. This will require the authentication of matching you to your individual profile by way of your email address.

An added benefit of having a unique email is the ability to customize communications to you. This will allow the RDGA to connect with you for your Handicap eRevision, member benefits and information of interest to you.

Email addresses are easy to create via Google (Gmail), Microsoft (Outlook) or Yahoo!. These are just a few places to go to create a free email address.

If you currently have a shared email address on your personal GHIN account - or if you are unsure - please contact the RDGA at 585-292-5950 to verify your account information.

THANK YOU!
