Dear Vikings!

As we begin the month of September, we hope everyone is finding themselves ready to take on a new season and a new school year! Whether you are personally starting school, your children/grandchildren are starting school, or maybe it is just a reflective time on your memories of September - we want to send you our prayers and blessings!

This week marks the end of summer vacation and next week classes begin for our students. We are elated to have our hallways filled once again with students embarking on their journeys of becoming the "Leaders of Tomorrow."

Stay in touch with us and be sure to check out our monthly newsletter on the first Thursday of every month! We will keep you in the loop with everything that is going on at Archbishop Wood High School for the 2020-2021 school year!

Alumni Prayer Garden News

The Archbishop Wood Prayer Garden is a beautiful sanctuary to pray, meditate, and reflect.

Personalized stone pavers, benches, trees and plants provide a lasting tribute for alumni, family, friends, faculty, members of the community, and corporate donors. Special occasions such as birthdays, graduation, marriages, anniversaries and retirement may also be honored.

All donors will receive an invitation to the annual Alumni Mass and Breakfast which is held in the spring to bless the tributes and memorials.

Faith In The Future Campaign

Thank you to everyone for your help and support throughout the summer months to help us achieve our fundraising goals and increase support for our families in need. Together with your help, over $1.3 million for Archdiocesan schools was raised through the Faith in the Future campaign for tuition assistance. Wood rasied almost $4,000.000 plus the matching gifts!  We are most grateful to you; because of your contributions our families who have suffered financially through this difficult time, their children can now start school next week.
Calling All Viking Alumni: Update Your Information!

We have enjoyed hearing from our Viking Alumni so much over the past year, especially our health and essential workers/heroes!

Whether you graduated fifty years ago or five, stay in touch and keep us updated on what's new in your life by updating your information with our Alumni Office!

Your information is kept confidential and is strictly used for internal purposes. Having your updated information on file helps us to better communicate with you about all the great things we have happening at AWHS. We keep our outreach limited to a monthly Viking Society E-Newsletter and a few postcards/letters throughout the year updating you on our Alumni events and progress at Archbishop Wood High School!

Archbishop Wood wishes to thank the Bucks County Commissioners, Diane M. Ellis-Marseglia (Chair) and Robert J. Harvie, Jr. (Vice Chair) and Gene DiGirolamo and the Director of Emergency Services, Scott T. Forster, for providing our school with 1,000 polymer face shields.

Our students and faculty will be able to see each other's faces during instructional time while still protecting them from COVID-19. (These face shields are an option for students when they are sitting at their desks in class. When they walk the halls they must wear the face masks.) Wood is also grateful to the Bucks County Intermediate Unit for their assistance with this support for our school. THANK YOU!
EITC: A foolproof way to give back to AWHS Families!

We know that many of you have been curious to learn more about EITC and now is the perfect time to connect with us to learn more!

Now more than ever, some of our families will need tuition assistance through EITC. You can provide tuition assistance scholarships by directing your PA tax dollars (that you are already paying) to Archbishop Wood High School.

At the end of August 2020, two new ventilation systems were installed on the North & South side roofs of Archbishop Wood High School. This ventilation system will circulate air flow throughout the entire building and purify the air for our teachers, students, and staff. AWHS is working hard to make sure our building is the safest it can possibly be for when our Vikings return!
Archbishop Wood High School was awarded $8,500.00 through a grant from the Pennsylvania School Safety and Security Committee, established with the state Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD). Wood was one of the state's non-public schools to receive the COVID-19 Disaster Emergency Targeted School Health and Safety Grant for the 2020-2021 school year. The grant was awarded through the PCCD and completed by the Bucks County Intermediate Unit on behalf of all nonpublic schools in the area.

Wood will invest the grant in much needed items such as disinfectant sprayers, cleaning supplies, digital thermometers and plexiglass barriers.

Gary Zimmaro, President of Archbishop Wood said, "We are grateful to the PCCD and Bucks County IU for this grant so we may continue to keep our school safe and our students and staff healthy without having to use our much needed general operational funds."
