Ousting outdated covenants

Restrictive covenants are a unique legal feature that allows a developer to impose uniform restrictions or obligations on all future owners of particular lands. A recent court case looked at what happens when a restrictive covenant becomes outdated and the owners wish to remove it. 
Youth workers: legal working age increased

Employing youth workers (individuals under 18 years of age) is legal in Alberta; however, municipalities that hire youth workers should be aware of the specific restrictions that apply in the Employment Standards Code .

Former Devon Mayor Andrew Madsen passes away

AUMA offers its condolences to the family and friends on the passing of former Devon mayor Andrew Madsen, who recently passed away in Calgary.

Andy was a long-time resident of the Town of Devon and actively involved in his community. In addition to serving as both a councillor and mayor, he was also served as president of the Devon Legion and the Devon Golf Course. He was known for building skating rinks for local kids to play hockey and curling. Andy moved to Calgary in 1976.
