Delta Psi Epsilon Christian Sorority, Inc. continues to uplift and uphold the safety of its members and prospective members as the highest priority. We will, therefore, allow a partial re-opening for the national organization under the following conditions. We are still requiring our chapters and colonies to be closed and host virtual events and activities only. There is one exception to that rule, but the chapter must meet these conditions listed below.
In-person events are allowed for membership intake program ceremonies and community service only. All other membership intake activities, classes, celebrations must remain on a virtual basis. All chapters participating in giving out food or other donations related to COVID-19 are allowed but you must take the proper precautions. This is a personal choice to participate.
If you or a family member has a confirmed case of COVID-19 or has had a confirmed case, you may not participate in any in-person sorority events until you have become symptom-free for at least 14 days.
Conditions for in-person events:
Condition 2: No local, state or national government stay-at-home order is in place in your area. This includes orders such as stay-at-home, curfews, etc.
Condition 3: Your county and adjacent counties are in the yellow or green categories. If at any time, your county or adjacent counties return to orange or red, you must cease all in-person activities. (This metric color codes every state and county in the United States by green, yellow, orange or red, depending on the number of cases per 100,000 population, and provides an easy to access and interpret reference that is available at the following link: https://globalepidemics.org/key-metrics-for-covid-suppression/. Click the sidebar to see your state.) If you have questions about whether or not your chapter meets this requirement, please coordinate with your Regional Director.
All three conditions must be met in order to have an in-person event.
Procedures for in-person events:
1. Membership intake ceremonies can only happen in-person. Prospective members and chapter members must agree by signing the Delta Psi Epsilon Christian Sorority, Inc. COVID-19 Liability Waiver. If all prospective members do not agree, they cannot be forced to comply with an in-person event that is scheduled by the chapter. This should have no bearing on them being accepted as a member of Delta Psi Epsilon. Only 10 or fewer people may attend these events. Other interested chapter members may participate or view virtually.
2. Masks and gloves must be worn and used at all times. All members and prospective members must use a mask that covers both mouth and nose, in order to reduce the risk of the person wearing the mask to inadvertently transmit the coronavirus. This is not a measure to prevent the mask wearer from being exposed. Face shields do not prevent an infected person from infecting others; consequently, while members may choose to use a face shield in addition to a mask, they may not use face shields as a substitute for masks or face coverings. Please refer to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Information on Use of Cloth Face Coverings to Help Slow the Spread of COVID-19: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/diy-cloth-face-coverings.html
3. Food and goods distribution for community service is allowed, but all in-person rules and conditions must be followed.
4. Adjusted seating and standing must be used at all times to maintain a safe distance between individuals. And all events must be touchless. Hugs and personal touches are not permitted.
5. Availability of soap and water for hand-washing, and as supplies allow, hand sanitizer is required. The availability of facial tissues and receptacles to dispose of used tissues is required.
