Louisiana credit unions are working diligently to aid their members and communities by providing assistance during the current government shutdown. Many have put together a variety of resources to help members stay fiscally afloat while waiting to go back to work.

Whodunit? Find out at the Louisiana Foundation FUN-raiser Murder Mystery Dinner: In this fully immersive Murder Mystery Show, you and your team will join in the fun by working together and interacting with performance cast members in order to solve a fictitious crime, all while enjoying a three course meal.  Proceeds from this event benefit the Louisiana CU Foundation, which provides financial assistance for statewide disaster relief efforts and provides educational subsidies and scholarships for credit union professionals.
 
Credit Union Roundtables Engage Management Teams: Join us for an opportunity to learn from the best source of all - your peers. Attendees will be divided by asset groups with a dynamic facilitator helping to lead the discussion, focusing on issues that matter most to you.  Best of all, this opportunity is complimentary to all our member credit unions and is immediately followed by a networking reception.
LCUL's 2019 Candy Sale is Underway: First Order Due Tomorrow!
LCUL's 2019 CULAC candy sale is officially underway. Credit unions can now place orders online through our web portal. Below are a couple of reminders:
  • All orders must be placed through our website
  • There will now be THREE opportunities to place orders (January 24, February 11, March 4)
  • Those with an initial order of 50 boxes or more will have your order drop shipped to your credit union directly.
  • Return Policy: Almonds and Bars are returnable, however, specialty candy such as raisins, crispy bars, mint meltaways, caramel whirls, and the variety pack are not able to be returned.
  • Additional information such as distribution locations and promotional marketing material can be found on the League's website.
Remember, selling candy is a simple way for your credit union to support CULAC. If you did not sell candy last year and are interested in learning more, please contact the CULAC team today!

LCUL's YPN Steering Committee Elects New Officers
The Young Professionals Network (YPN) Steering Committee elected new officers during their meeting at the 2019 Committee Conference last week. The new officers who will lead the network of over 400 professionals in Louisiana are:
  • Chelsea Gstohl (Pelican State CU), Chair
  • Lynette Hazelton (Hart of Louisiana CU), Vice Chair
  • Chad Miller (Southwest Louisiana CU), Secretary
  • Lacey Galyon (St. Tammany FCU), Treasurer
Newly elected chair, Chelsea Gstohl, expressed her gratitude for being elected, "I am so grateful to the other committee members for giving me this opportunity to serve as chair of the YPN committee. I am excited for the future of this group and the things we can accomplish."
 
Outgoing Chair, Michelle Jinks, thanked her other committee members for their hard work during her time as chair. "Serving on the committee for the last 6 years, I have witnessed so many great accomplishments, a lot of which came from the hard work of this committee. We are fortunate to have such an active force here in Louisiana. We've made great strides during my time as chair and I know they will do even greater things moving forward."

NOFFCU Employees Spend Holiday Giving Back to Local Communities
In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the employees of New Orleans Firemen's FCU invested their time into giving back to our communities. Several organizations were chosen to have NOFFCU's  employees volunteer by assisting with various day to day tasks. Employees were spread across the Southshore and Northshore providing service work to those that provide for others in need!



Neighbors FCU Helps "Pat's Coats For Kids" Raise $94,002 
Neighbors FCU partnered with Pat Shingleton and WBRZ for the 10th consecutive year as a primary sponsor for "Pat's Coats for Kids." In total the Campaign collected $94,002 and 7,483 donated coats.

During the Campaign, Neighbors FCU collected coats and cash donations at all locations during the campaign. Neighbors collected $3,038 in cash donations to the campaign.  

Additionally, Neighbors hosted a jambalaya sale as well as "Pack the Pod Day" and "Distribution Day" events. Neighbors helped distribute 8,212 coats to 172 schools in the Greater Baton Rouge area.

"We are thrilled to have played a role in another successful year of Pat's Coats For Kids," Neighbors President and CEO Steve Webb said. "It's been an incredible ten years partnering with Pat and WBRZ to keep local kids warm."
