Russell's Ritings....
The first Sunday I was in Atlanta for graduate school I went to Grace UMC. Grace is a towering red-brick structure with the name GRACE on one outdoor wall, visible for several blocks. I had visited there at the invitation of my landlady, who was a member. The great preacher, Dr. Cecil Myers, was the pastor then.
Grace is an important word for our faith. Ephesians 2 teaches us that we are saved by grace through faith.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer in THE COST OF DISCIPLESHIP said, "cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without repentance, baptism without discipline, communion with confession. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ, living and incarnate."
Lent is a special time for repentance and reflection, and a time for allowing God's amazing grace to be real in our lives!
I look forward to seeing you Sunday. The sermon is, "Lift High The Cross" (John 12: 20 - 33).

Safeway strongly suggests/encourages you to spend down the older tomato reloadable cards and come into the church to pick up a new more secure card from the church from Charlene Hahn, Barb Grindle or Carol Wood in the office. The new reloadable cards have higher security measures to prevent fraud. Everything is fine with the King Soopers cards.
Thank you for shopping with these cards and helping the church in this way.

DID YOU KNOW?
There are many ways you can support our church besides the Sunday morning offering. Here are just a few:
Birthday Donations
During the month of your birthday make a donation to the church equal to the number of years you have been on this earth (or any number you are comfortable with). Make a birthday donation for your parents, children or best friend
Grocery Card Purchases
Purchase a King Soopers or Safeway reloadable gift card at the church. Use it and keep reloading it to buy your groceries and gasoline at King Soopers or Safeway. Buy the grocery cards for family members, friends, service providers, etc. Encourage them tot he reload the cards and use them to purchase their groceries and gasoline. The church makes 5% on grocery card purchases.
Vehicle Donation
Donate your used vehicle to the church. We have a contract with an organization which sells used vehicles. They give a portion of the sales price to our church.
IRA Rollovers to Benefit the Church
The IRA rollover is a simple and easy way to grow God's kingdom. If you are 70½, you may rollover up to $100,000 from your IRA to the church without paying any federal income tax on your gift. Your gift to the church from your IRA will qualify for your 2018 required minimum distribution (RMD).
To make an IRA rollover gift in
2018,
simply contact your custodian and request that all or part of your required minimum distribution (RMD) be transferred to the church. For more information, visit rm-umf.org or contact the United Methodist Foundation at 303-778-6370.
All of these donations provided added benefit to our church. Thank you for your support!

Sunday, March 18 from 9:30 - 10:20 am
SERIES ON THE PARABLES (NO. 2): THE NARROW DOOR
(LUKE 13: 22-30)
Facilitator: The Rev. Russell Fletcher
We are called to live life through a narrow door. Narrow door living calls us to be moral people in an immoral society. What does this mean, what does "holiness" mean, and what does it mean to be saved?
Sunday, March 25 from 9:30 - 10:20 am
SERIES ON THE PARABLES (NO. 3):
A CHRISTIAN DUTY
(LUKE 17: 5-10)
Facilitator: The Rev. Russell Fletcher
In a time when rights are demanded and duties are forgotten, this story speaks to us. Our duty is to serve God and claim no merit. Our best deserves no credit or praise. We are simply doing our duty.
Sunday, April 1: No Session: Easter Sunday
Sunday, April 8: No Session
All are welcome!
