Congratulations to Keith Reilly for once again winning the Rising Stars competition. R
ising Stars is a program for classical musicians of high school ages. Finalists are chosen through a competitive audition process. This year, for the first time in twenty years, Keith was chosen as a winner for two numbers, Clair de lune and his original composition Bleak Nightfall, which he played in Church last month.
You can see and hear Keith perform his compositions at the Rising Star performance being held December 14, 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. at the Algonquin Arts Theatre in Manasquan. | Sunday School Jam Session
We started our month with the book of Exodus, looking at how God's people cooperated to b
uild the tabernacle. God had given each worker different gifts. They combined their skills to create a beautiful place to worship God.
Our large group opener involved working together to create a jam session before breaking into smaller groups.
This week's bottom line: Work together to help someone succeed.

Restaurant Fundraiser Night
Thank you to everyone who came out to the Coal House Bistro this week. The restaurant donated 10% of the night's receipts back to the Church for a total of $350 that went into the general fund. Thank you to Frank Scarpone and Donna Ferry for organizing this event. The church will be looking to do this on a regular basis at varying restaurants.

Inquirer's Class
This December Pastor Osy will be leading an Inquirer's Class for anyone wishing to attend. This Inquirer's Class will afford long time Presbyterians as well as Newcomers to our branch of the Christian faith an opportunity to ask questions and meet other people who may be considering joining with the congregation, or transferring their membership, or simply seeking to gain a deeper understanding of why we do what we do, all the while getting to know other people who may be relatively new to this congregation.
The class is scheduled for
Sunday, December 2, to take place in the Christian Education Annex following our monthly Church Brunch, approximately from 11:30 to 1 pm. Child care will be made available upon prior request (please call the church office so we can be prepared).
Please take some time to consider this invitation and pray to be open to the leading of the Spirit on this matter. If you decide to attend the class, just call the church office at 732-899-0587 to reserve a space.

Youth Protection Training
On Sunday, November 18th, Elder Jim McGuire will lead a Youth Protection Training
 session
for all who work with children or youth in the church. The training will take place in the Chittick Lounge. Jim is an experienced trainer with the Boy Scouts of America. At the training, forms will be available to apply for the criminal background check the church requires.
Please note that training certificates expire within two years. Those who took the training prior to last year will have to be re-certified. Please RSVP to the church office or speak directly with Jim McGuire.

Christmas Shoppe Returning Again This Year
On November 18th, the ladies of Busy Hands will once again have their Christmas Shoppe with holiday items for sale.
The gals of the Busy Hands are having a silent auction for a hand-sewn beaded Christmas stocking. This silent auction will be a "one bid, make your best offer" sale. The winner of this item will be announced at the end of the sale.
Busy Hands will also have additional items for purchase that include quilted totes, baby bibs, Christmas jumpsuits for toddlers, cloth books and quilts. Table Runners for Christmas and seasonal holidays will also be available.
Plan on stopping by the North Hall on November 18th for some early Christmas Shopping. Everything sold will go to support both Busy Hands and the church.

Holiday Dinner Donations For St. Gregory's Pantry
The pantry is in need of items for traditional holiday dinners. Boxes of stuffing and potatoes and cans of cranberry sauce, gravy, yams, potatoes, and vegetable are especially needed for Thanksgiving distribution.
All donations can be dropped off in the Narthex as well as at the pantry directly every weekday from 10:00am - 12:00pm at 804 Bay Ave, PPB.
Thanksgiving Distribution is scheduled for November 19th. Christmas Distribution with Toy Land will be December 18th.
Youth Volunteers are needed to carry food up from the basement at the Pantry from 2 to 4:00 p.m. Adult Volunteers are needed at the Pantry from 9:00 a.m. til 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 19th for distribution. Afternoon volunteers are especially needed after 1pm since many morning volunteers leave. No sign up is necessary.
Volunteers will also be needed for the Toy Land Distribution held here in Wilton Hall.
Additional information on donations and volunteering for the Christmas Distribution will follow.

This Week at Point Beach Prep
This week we had a voting booth set up for our students to "vote"! We aren't old enough to elect members of Congress yet, so our vote was for whether they wanted to eat pretzels or goldfish with their snack. We talked about how every vote counts. Pretzels took the win in both classes!
We smiled for Picture Days here at school Tuesday and Wednesday. Teddy Bear Portraits came in and took beautiful photos of our students.
We reviewed letters A-G. We also practiced singing our songs for our upcoming Thanksgiving Shows.
We collected a very generous amount of candy for the troops! We are excited to give it to 2 people in the armed forces that are relatives of Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church members. There is plenty for them to share with their fellow soldiers. We are thankful for their service and hope they enjoy the sweet treats!

Valentine House Seeking Donations for Their Holiday Store
For the past seven years the Joan Valentine House has given their residents a chance  to be part of a special gift buying and giving program for the holiday season. The holiday store is an opportunity for residents to buy gifts for family members of friends. The residents earn "Valentine Bucks" during the year for maintaining good hygiene, helping other residents, and helping out around Valentine House. By saving the Valentine Bucks during the year, the residents can buy gifts for loved ones at the holiday store.
All the gifts come from donations from local businesses and individuals. It's a great opportunity to re-gift items that are new or items never used. Examples of items for the store are candles, costume jewelry, books, perfume or cologne, clothing items, household items that are unused, games and toys and Christmas decorations.
The staff and volunteers staff the store and help residents pick out gifts and wrap them. There is also a need for gift bags, tags and ribbon. They have plenty of wrapping paper from last year. (This is different from the Valentine House giving tree we have each year, by which we choose individual Valentine House residents and buy a gift or two they've specifically asked for. The giving tree will be back again this Advent.)
Any items you may have to donate to the holiday store can be dropped off at the Valentine House or in the church office by Monday, December 3.

Kyle and Frank Jones would like to sincerely thank those members of the congregation who came forward to provide supplies for Hurricane Florence relief in the Carolinas. We were able to collect enough supplies to fill the inside and bed of my pickup and they were all delivered to the group down in Toms River last week and should be on its way to the Carolinas this week. The group was most appreciative of our donations! You can continue to make contributions to PDA to help the Carolinas and the Florida Panhandle!
