The Rev. Bernard J. Owens Elected Trinity's 12th Dean

On November 5, the Wardens and Vestry of Trinity Cathedral announced the election of the Rev. Bernard J. (BJ) Owens, IV as the Cathedral's 12th Dean.

The Rev. Owens has served as the rector of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Greensboro, N.C. since 2010. During his tenure, he has grown the church's family ministries, united the congregation's gift of multiple generations, strengthened stewardship, and structured the church for long-term vitality. He has enthusiasm for the future of Trinity Cathedral, is motivated by social justice and reconciliation, and has an inviting sense of humor.

BJ and his wife, Jo, have two children, Amelia (9 years) and Graham (5 years). BJ and his family hope to be at Trinity Cathedral by Christmas. The Holy Spirit has led us throughout the search, and it is time to give thanks and prepare for the Owens' family arrival.

You can read the November 5 Wardens' letter to the congregation announcing the selection and election on Trinity's website.

The 2019 Stewardship campaign slogan, "Answering God's Call," is especially fitting with the news of Trinity Cathedral's new dean above!

Gifts are truly multiplying as 2019 stewardship pledges continue to arrive. Many "Answering God's Call" pledges have been inspired by the Ministry Moments of Bill Fuller ("Many Cups of Water"), Janet Lechleitner ("Trinity is My Second Family"), Miriam Torres-Souffront ("Lost, Found, and Restored"), and Marie Kittredge ("Trinity Is Us!"). You can access them all  HERE
.

If you haven't already done so, join your Trinity kindred in laying the foundation for 2019 as Dean Owens takes the helm as Trinity's 12th dean.

You can  make your 2019 pledge onlineYou can download a pledge form to fill out and send it in. Pledge packets are also available from the Hospitality Desk, Ginger Bitikofer or Holly Tomasch at  216-774-0408 or   [email protected]

Photo: The restored Skinner organ at Lake Erie College (Painesville, OH) is very similar to the Skinner organ for Trinity proposed in the "From Mothballs to Music" project.

Trinity's Vestry took a significant step toward making the restoration and installation of Trinity's Aeolian-Skinner organ, now in storage, a reality. Vestry approved an agreement with the Muller Pipe Organ Company to complete organ installation design plans at its October meeting.

Muller Organ will develop the precise plans and specifications needed to place the organ's various components on the east and west sides of the Cathedral's Chancel. The design will detail the preparatory work required prior to installation of the instrument and enable Trinity to determine the cost of these preparations accurately, in addition to the direct costs of the restoration.   Trinity's restored organ will consist of approximately 3,000 pipes arrayed over 60 ranks.

You can read more about the organ restoration project HERE . Questions about this project can be directed to Bryan Sickbert, Chair of the Vestry Arts Committee at  [email protected]  (216-513-7953) or Todd Wilson, Director of Music.
